Hi all,

I'm flying later this month and was disappointed to think I would be stuck in American Airways lounge after the qantas lounge opening was delayed. I was really surprised when I just visited the lounge locations and found that AA/BA lounge has been removed from the lounge locations and only Cathy lounge is now listed. I was even more surprised to see that Qantas club is listed to having access to Cathy. Has anyone tried entering with a qantas club membership? Was there any problems getting in?

Sorry if this is a double up on topics but I couldn't find another one.

Thanks

Cathay lounge at T3 is one of the best there is, especially for WPs.! Excellent food, wines. Even when QF get their act together, we'll be using the Cathay lounge.

I'm hoping to use the CX Lounge in T3 again later this year. Will be interesting to hear what the QF Lounge is like though once that has opened.

 The QF website still lists the BA lounge at LHR T3 and the maps show all 3 lounges (AA, CX, BA).

I used the CX lounge on my way through LHR a month ago. It was amazing. It was 6am so there were hardly any people in it (like 6-10 max) but it was great. Had a really nice breakfast in the first dining room and took some time to relax and watch planes take off before my flight. I walked through all the lounge and saw the noodle bar which im not sure was open but the whole lounge was great.
Only problem i had was the USB power points in the side table draws didnt work. I tried a bunch of them but none worked. The power socket worked just not the USB ports.

The CX one is the only one which shows QANTAS Club members as eligible to access now though.

Yes ... until recently it was the Admiral's Club as the only LHR lounge for PS/NB QP members flying on QF marketed flights.

This seems to have changed to CX.

When I was at T3 last Tuesday, I was told at check-in to use the CX lounge; they used to always recommend BA. And there is now a QF sign at the entrance, which I don't remember seeing before.

Apparently the new QF lounge is not that far from the CX Lounge (if I recall what I read somewhere correctly). Perhaps that also has something to do with it.

Have two visits to the T3 CX F lounge in the next 10 days. Looking forward to it as I've not experienced the refurbished space. As above, I imagine I'll still avail myself of this lounge even after QF opens.

This may be old news, but I also asked about the opening date of the QF lounge. It's now been pushed back to October.

I know a lot of others like it but I just didn't like the CX lounge at T3 - hoping the QF lounge gets finished before November - I probably won't be WP for too much longer

Something else interesting to note, on the CX page of the QF lounges, it only has QFClub, whereas the BA lounge has Gold, WP, P1 listed as entry (as well as EK equivalents). Pushing BA as their premium lounge, and CX as their 'other' lounge (or at least it seems that way)

I went to both CX F and BA F lounges in LHR T3 earlier this year and imo the fine dining in the CX lounge was a lot better. Obviously QANTAS Club members would only get into the J section though.

To be clear here and in specific relevance to this thread, based on this change Qantas Club members using their membership for lounge access when departing on QF flights in economy from LHR T3 do not have any choice.

Until the QF lounge opens it is CX lounge or nothing.

Anything would be an improvement. We were in LHR last November and the multi airline lounge on our Qantas LHR-Dubai-Mel was disgusting. Beyond full and much like a Coles cafeteria.

If you fly F or get WP (or above status) the FLounges tend to be less full. Considering how many people are entitled to use Business Class lounges (QANTAS Club members, SGs, Business Class passengers) it's easy to see how they can overfill.

Last year prior to official opening we went to CX lounge ( thanks to info here re soft opening)
It was great , when we mentioned in check in that we were going there she did try to suggest an alternative.
Interesting how it is changed.
really liked the lounge (1st class one )
