For you AFF iPhone aficionados, anybody notice this on the QF website?

"Confirm your email address and you'll be one of the first to know when the new Qantas Frequent Flyer iPhone app is ready to download."

I wonder what additional features it will have over and above the plain old common or garden Qantas iPhone app? Seat selection, op upgrades, duty free shopping ... well, just thinking out aloud ...

And while on the iPhone app topic, anybody loaded "FlightBoard" by Mobiata, which turns your iPhone/iPad into the Arrivals and Departures board for over 4000 airports and 1400 airlines world wide?

Will check out Flightboard, but no one here would know what the new Qantas app has I don't think. Though the ad has been noticed and I'm sure we're all hopeful for seat selection/checkin on it. Real functionality.

Edit: $4.99 for something that's free online. I'll be fine :p

Hopefully the new qantas app will be an app and not just a mobile website.

Fersure! Tried to find the app to download to my new iPad ... nada ... nothing!

Downloaded it yesterday, haven't received the email that it was now available.

Just looked it up -- from the description, it doesn't appear to actually do anything useful? Where are the flight booking options, stored itineraries and saved boarding passes?

Oh goody, I can let my Facebook friends know all about my QFF points "milestones". Just what I always wanted to do..

I would recommend everyone that can to do as they suggest:

We welcome feedback and suggestions for future releases via the ‘Send Feedback’ link on the ‘Settings’ screen.

Looks a lot better than the last app, though I’m not sure I’ll use the augmented reality browser, I don’t pull out the one I have already unless I’m showing off :p

Just dl'd it. It's terrible. Nothing useful as far as I can tell. Sent a feedback email. The old app was far better (which I still have thankfully)

I have the old app too, but it’s exactly what you see in mobile safari, and recently their mobile safari version of the site was updated a little, so just use that ;)

This really is the "Qantas Frequent Shopper" App since it doesn't actually have anything to do with actually flying with Qantas.

About the only thing that might be useful is the feature to find QFF partner restaurants nearby.
The shopping part of it is just flooded with Woolworths/Caltex/BigW/****Smith so is kinda useless.

And EDR already has an app for finding the nearest petrol station… there’s an app for that!

As for the restaurants, weren’t they decreasing in numbers rather than increasing? It’s a shame, one of those great things about MPC Asia Miles is you can double dip at many restaurants in Hong Kong, and I was hoping QF was following them, but clearly they have other priorities :(

The Qantas Frequent Flyer App is here.

Finally it has arrived, however, sadly, doesn't work for me.

Did anyone get it to work? I try to log in with my details, get an error and the app crashes out.

Have just received an email saying:

Thanks for registering to be notified about the Qantas Frequent Flyer App. We're excited about it too. That's why we're giving you an opportunity to be one of the first to get your hands on it, before it's officially launched!

Download the app for free today and discover a world of points at your fingertips.

Here are just some of the things it lets you do:

See what your points could get you in the Qantas Frequent Flyer Store*.
Explore the app and you'll discover even more!
It's the perfect way to manage your points, wherever you are in the world.

I'll load it up on my 3GS and see how it goes. I wonder when it's going to go official, and also why they are releasing it to some before official launch (but then I'm a simple kind of person and may not be aware of the obvious).

Yeah... I got that email too!!

Downloaded on IPhone 4 and will not log in to QFF!

I hope this is going to be fixed.

It is freely available in the APP store. Sadly all it is really is a glorified points tracker and encouragement to find places to earn more points.

It doesnt have much useful functionality for the frequent flyer such as check in with a single click, seat selection etc. - this is taken from the info on the APP store and the screen shots.

Also it doesnt work for me at all - opens then crashes once the number/name/PIN are input...

Download and install successful. Entered membership #, name and password, and ... wait for it ... crashed.

BTW - it's called "Frequent Flyer" and in the app store is described as it giving access to points balance, and points tracking; built in GPS so you can locate your nearest QFF (hey, they stole the Footprints function off the AFF app!); gives you inspiration on redeeming points via Classic Awards flights; provides an ability to browse the on-line QFF store to redeem points against goods; and gives a function to update friends on your QFF status via Facebook and Twitter (I'm sure all AFFers will be rushing out to do that). I also note there are already 21 ratings (average of 3.5*), the earliest dated 13/10.

Still plenty of restaurants on the list.
