QF Emirates Codeshare to Auckland Changes??

I was notified today that my mid September J booking on the 9:25 QF Codeshare Emirates flight from SYD to AKL on a Saturday has been bumped to a later Qantas metal flight. Also checked the Qantas timetable and it's no longer showing any Emirates Codeshare flight on that route in September. Is anyone aware of any upcoming changes?

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

SYD-AKL is one of my most frequented routes. It's a shame not to have the option for an A380 any more, but there are so many airlines flying the route that I kind of understand this. China Airlines is also removing its SYD-AKL tag flights later this year.

Personally I'm very happy to see Qantas adding 2 daily A330 services! And at least Emirates still has 3 other trans-Tasman A380 routes.

I guess that Jetconnect will now have a "spare" 737 freed up as well. I wonder where it will be used? I'd love to see a direct CBR-AKL flight (even just twice a week!).

EK stopping A380 SYD-AKL

A bit of a shock but EK will no longer run the A380:( from SYD to AKL from 13 July 2107.
QF to upgauge some 737 flights to A330.
Emirates axes Sydney-Auckland Airbus A380 flights
Emirates will cancel its daily Airbus A380 flights between Sydney and Auckland from July 13 2017, with the Gulf carrier saying the superjumbo service is being retired "to optimise capacity on this route in line with changes in demand."
In its place Qantas will upgrade four daily Sydney-Auckland services – QF140/146 and QF143/149 – from Boeing 737s to Airbus A330s sporting the airline's highly-regarded Business Suite seats at the pointy end.
The Axed A380s flights are EK418 from Sydney to Auckland and EK419 from Auckland back to Sydney. Passengers booked on these services will be rebooked onto Qantas flights QF143 and QF146, which will run daily from July 13.

I just posted the story as you posted this query.

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

I have mixed feelings.

Miss the A380, no bar.
A330 Y pretty good. Appealing to upgrade to J for special occasions. Twice daily is good. Always thought that was a slight limitation on EK.

Anything has to be better than a 737 across the ditch in any class :)

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

I may just decide to do SYD -AKL in future, instead of BNE-AKL. I like the QF A330 way more than the 737.

I think this thread has already been started somewhere else. :-)

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

Phew I still get to keep my F run in late June. I'm not too surprised though if I extrapolate from the minimal J and F loads I saw on the EK MEL-AKL-MEL legs.

If they downgrade from an A380 ex SYD then I'd expect MEL would have the same fate soon unless for some reason it helps their positioning with the onward leg to DXB.

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

So I'm booked on EK419 in mid Sep in F booked through QF as part of a LHR-DXB-AKL-SYD (it was the only way to avoid economy back from europe...), it is an award booking.

Called QF today, agent said she would look at alternatives, but phone dropped out when she put me on hold. Agent i got next time said that they would get back to me but that they cannot make any arrangements untill emirates has provided QF with more info

Hoping the QF experts can help me with a few things:

1. When are QF likely to come back to me with alternate options?
2. Will QF refund points difference if i'm moved back to J?
3. I also incurred a 10,000 point change fee to get on that flight, will i be able to get that refunded?
4. Are 1.5 hour wait times to speak to someone normal lol? (over at VA or SQ i never wait more than maybe 2 minutes?)

Probably also trying to sure up the Auckland-Dubai direct service.

Possible, i note that i am the only person in F on the booking i have for Sep. I would rather the flight stay empty, maybe i can use the shower twice then

Re: Emirates Cans A380 SYD-AKL

Be interesting to see if timing of the A380 service changes - or if it just sits parked at SYD for the day.

Wasn't part of the reason for the AKL tag to minimise parking costs? Maybe there are other changes that use that plane.

Perhaps Emirates will re-assign the DXB-BKK-SYD aircraft to CHC, and re-schedule the second daily non-stop DXB-SYD flight to arrive in SYD mid-afternoon (with the departure timed to meet a bank of European arrivals)? It would then turn around back to DXB at the usual ~9pm. Saves the aircraft from sitting in SYD for 15 hours, and means that EK/QF don't have 3x DXB-SYD flights (one going via BKK) leaving within an hour of each other around 10am.

a minor drama....QF codeshare with EK to AKL

I (was) booked to travel in late July on the QF codeshare with EK from SYD-AKL return. I was booked to travel in first class and made use of the 'double status credit offer', booking during that time period.

As many of you would be aware EK has abandoned the SYD-AKL and AKL-SYD routes from July 13......I can't change the days I'm travelling AND to make matter worse the status credits that I would've received got me over the line for Gold after I lost it 2 years ago.

What on earth do I do?!

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated :)
