Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Put in an upgrade for an NB family member AKL-MEL and MEL-LHR. Both Y-J and they both cleared at T-28. Very surprised as AKL-MEL was only showing J2 and MEL-LHR as J1!

Yesterday I lost my seat 4D on a 737 to a NB and I ended up with the middle seat...so I think NB is the new WP!!!!

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

seeing this for a flight in about a month - any likelihood of additional award space opening up? or just upgrade requests clearing? TIA

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

If you want to fly J, I0 is not good for chances of getting an award seat released.

Sorry, I know it is OT but how would that have happened defurax? Were you just bumped off 4D at T24 for unknown reason?

This was an international flight and I had selected seat 4C for my wife and 4D for myself a few months ago (we are both WP). At checkin we were given seats 4E (middle) and 4F (window) although both our QF preference is for aisle seats. I asked the checkin agent why on earth I was now in a middle seat and she said that we had to be moved for a low mobility passenger...whatever, could be true. When we boarded, seat 4A,B and C were occupied by a family (2 parents, 1 kid), I later found out they were WP or above since they received an express pass from the CSM. Now arrives Mr 4D...a young athletic guy, no mobility problems in sight and gets to sit in 4D...the best Y seat in the plane. I don't know how QF deals with moving passengers around...but maybe some colour coded status on their screen would help!

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Qrrrrr... how lousy but let's hope Mr 4D got his seat checking in late after the mobility pax cancelled and not QF staff playing nepotism.

So as a couple you had 4CD and ended up in 4EF? It's not like you were travelling solo and were moved from an aisle to a middle for a no status pax.

Depends - buckleys chance if it's U award space SYD/HNL on a Friday night but reasonable chance doing points upgrade depending on status.

What sector is it for?

Then I guess in the future I'll make separate bookings if it increases my chance of keeping an aisle seat, this was only my second middle seat in more than 500 flights and not something I enjoyed.

Anyway, this is very OT and I just mentioned it because it involved a NB.

So, for a dom pax BNE - ADL, whats the chances.
I did my first request today, for SA Queens birthday long weekend trip, and thought that it would come through straight away, ie, points reduced from my QP account, (Qantas Points, as they seem to call themselves now) account, and I would have that subclass of J seat.
But nope, turns out, its still a waiting game for QF Au dom flgihts as well.
They are still selling subclass of J tickets, so the spot must be there.
Will put my success or failure info on here when I find out.

Though it pops up a message saying no upgrades available right now, click OK to register.. I've never actually seen an instant upgrade available.
So you have to wait and T-24 hours or sometimes a couple hours earlier they will *SMS* you the result (no e-mail) - you can also check on the website and the type will eventually change sometimes a little before the SMS.

With Domestic flights the upgrade to J is instant if a U classic award is available

Ta.
Was only looking at revenue business.
I dont have an EF account and I have borrowed my laptop to soneone.
Hard to check U availability on Android phone.

you don't need EF - just check on the Qantas website (or app on your phone) if a 'Classic Flight Reward' in business class is available on the relevant flight.

Just got my laptop back.
Checked my QF663 flight, for 12Jun and under Classic Flight Reward, it says no seats.
Ah well, I will try my luck at the QP/J lounge desk and see what happens.
Learning more, and having to keep on the ball.
Thanks again Steady and 2tallforY.
O saw yours too, Lathiat. ((Paws crossed)).
