Perhaps someone who is just confused, but this post seems highly coincidental. All Qantas club members denied access on instruction from corporate. :?:

I don't think this is anything to do with the changes for EK passengers.
I have heard on the grapevine though that the LAX lounge is an absolute zoo in the evenings due to the F lounge being closed for renovations. I would think that the logical first step would be to refuse paid lounge memberships ie QP members when the lounge is at capacity.
There would be an outcry anyway but it would be even louder if they were to refuse access to those with QF SG/WP or other OWS/OWE.
Any QP members turned away should at the very least be given vouchers for F&B in the terminal

Tough to work out compensation for that sort of thing... might be the one overseas trip in the year, which might have been a major driver for buying QP membership in the first place.

I understand what you're saying about priorities, but it really shouldn't have been allowed to happen at all (if it indeed did).

Don't they usually just restrict guesting rights? They had this up at the BNE Intl QP (which is smaller/worse than the domestic)

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

Yes it is slightly confusing, but the two aspects are separate.

under 'eligibility and access' it says you will have lounge access whenever flying QF or JQ, and then it lists the lounges. It is giving reassurance that any QF/JQ flight will continue to have lounges.

However you will also have access to lounges when flying AA via the agreement with AAdmirals club.

Two separate concepts.

See Qantas page for LAX T4 Admirals Club:
Lounge Locations | North America | Los Angeles International Airport Terminal 4 | Iternational Business

Same for DFW ...

"Qantas Club Member
Next onward flight that day must be a Qantas or Jetstar Airlines+ flight number."

Unless they've totally stuffed up the wording in making the EK change, it looks very much to me like no more Admirals Club in the US for QP when flying AA unless on QF code.

I'm pretty sure they've totally stuffed up the wording

From the benefits page

Partner Lounges
When travelling with American Airlines, as a Qantas Club member you and a guest are welcome at American Airlines Admirals Club lounges. Simply present your Qantas Club card together with your boarding pass at the lounge reception. Both you and your guest need to be travelling together further that day on a flight marketed^ and operated by the partner airline whose lounge you wish to visit.
Qantas Club Members will be welcomed at the Emirates Business Lounge in Dubai when their next onwards flight that day is with Qantas or Emirates.

None of the AC's are listed on the Eligibilty Access page apart from DFW and LAX. The rules for accessing those as a QP member should also state "Flying AA " or similar.
It is a poorly worded cut and paste job.

It is a poorly worded cut and paste job.

Indeed, I think "Must demonstrate cut & paste ability" and "Linguoge and speling skils not reqired" are in the Qantas job description for their web designers :)

The page link is in relation to the AAdmirals Club as an 'Associated lounge' - which it is for the purposes of QF flight departures (ie pax on QF flight numbers).

For QF passengers flying AA it would not be an 'associated lounge' - it would be a regular AAdmirals Club. And access would be by virtue of the reciprocal QF/AA paid membership agreement.

The problem is if the lounge isn't at capacity yet how can they turn away a valid passenger. Class of service passengers are a separate matter. But any Qantas status passenger is entering the lounge by vitue of the complimentary Qantas club membership they get with that status level. Basically they are Qantas club members. Consider that parallel with AA who make status members buy the lounge membership, QF is more generous and gifts the lounge membership.

But, yes, I did misunderstand that post.

I think it's most likely a capacity issue. Also Qantas passengers with SG/WP do have OW status and therefore are entitled to enter the lounge according to OW rules.
I'm not saying I agree with any of it but I can see that if the lounge is at full capacity this is one of the ways QF could seek to reduce overcrowding. The other way being to restrict guest access.

This is why the Aa example is important. The airlines are able to have different rules for their home program members. I think it could go either way as to whether I enter a Qantas club based on status or based on my complimentary club membership.

Actually there's an idea to cut costs!

Anyway, as per your subsequent post this is getting off topic. I'll shut up.

Btw I haven't read any of your posts as taking a position on the matter.

I hope you're right. I did look for a clear separate and less restrictive statement regarding Admiral's Club access for QP members and couldn't find one.

it on the main benefits page, under 'in the lounge'.

it lists different lounge categories, including associated lounges, partner lounges etc.

AA clubs are a separate category, with no change.

When this happened to us in May we were offered access to a lounge in another terminal (4 I think) - just a short bus trip away! Or $50pp voucher for the F&B (but have to use all of the voucher at once). We weren't happy, but they were very insistent that the lounge was going to be full, and made very aware that we weren't their priority since we weren't travelling in business ("Sir, this is a first and business class lounge!").

Sounds like QP are denied access to this lounge a lot of the time.

Re: Qantas removes Lounge Access for QP members on EK flights from Oct 1

There's nothing in the QP T&C about members being denied access due to space limitations. Members' guests, yes, but not the members themselves.

The only thing I can find that could justify this is 10.6:

10.6 Qantas Club staff have the discretion to refuse entry to any Member or guest at any time if, in their reasonable opinion, the Member has not or will not comply with these Terms and Conditions or the Club Rules, or the refusal is necessary or convenient for the orderly operation of the lounge or other facilities or the safety or comfort of other Members, their guests and staff.

It seems outrageous if members are being denied access on this basis.

That quote refers to both member or guest, so yes it is in ther T&C's.

Yes that was the basis of their denial - they had a print out of the T&Cs. Outrageous indeed since that means they can deny anyone at any time for any reason.

But not members on the basis of space availability, it's on the basis that they may inconvenience others by their very presence!

10.6 might not suggest it explicitly but I would imagine that would be the term that would be referred to. 10.6 refers to both members or guests.

Re: Qantas removes Lounge Access for QP members on EK flights from Oct 1

They also pointed towards this

* Due to capacity constraints, access for members and their guests to the Qantas, British Airways and Cathay Pacific oneworld lounge in Los Angeles is subject to space availability. Alternate lounges may be used to accommodate eligible customers within the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
Lounge Locations | North America | Los Angeles International Airport Tom Bradley Terminal | International Business

Note that they didn't have an alternative in TBIT. But the weasel word 'may' got them out of that.
