Hi Everyone,

Does anyone here have a link or know where I can sign staff up for Qantas Frequent Flyer for free? I know I saw something in an email from Qantas some time ago about this as we're signed up for their Aquire program as well. I wanted to encourage all my staff to sign up for airline loyalty programs and I know I could just cover the cost but I know there was a way to do this for free at one stage.

If anyone has any info about this it would be appreciated.

Xaine, I think that is a marvelous idea. But have you called them? Qantas that is.

No, it would make sense to call them but I was seeing if anyone had this on hand. I believe it was an offer from Qantas and have no idea if it has expired at all. I have about 8 staff so if I could do this cheaply then I wanted to offer to all of them to sign up for it.

As mentioned, anyone can join QFF for free via Woolworths. Re. Aquire, I don't know of any waived joining fee deals at the moment, but promotions offering a reduced joining fee or even bonus points for joining do come around from time to time. In any case, each business pays only 1x one-off fee to join Aquire.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Or if you have either a UK or other European address you can use, register all via that as it is free to Overseas Customers and then change address back to OZ and hey presto FREE QFF Membership :D

I did this when the Aquire programme started - I was missing out on Aquire points because many were not QFF members:confused:

Waiting for free Aquire membership, but being a small solo operated business, Aquire doesn't have much attraction over simply being a FF member.

I can certainly see the attraction of getting them signed up... I believe they have to credit the points to QFF for your business to claim the points through Aquire ;)

I think it double dips here. Our corporate account plus the individuals seem to earn points. At least historically. Aquire doesn't hold much red with me anyways but I just couldn't remember if it was through Aquire I received the complimentary sign up. Thanks to Croupier for finding this link for me, much appreciated.

I just want my staff signed up to the programs as I hate to think points and SC are being left on the table when they were going to fly regardless.

I'd encourage the staff to get familiar with how to add their freq flyer numbers into their bookings just in case the travel person (TA or your in-house one) forgets. A lot of people leave this up to a third party to do, then if it's forgotten they might end up in a middle seat because they don't know they can pre-allocate domestic seats ahead of time free of charge on QF with the exception of exit row seats on A330 flights between BNE/SYD/MEL and PER.

The airline or hotel frequent guest membership is the one that awards your employees with the points however your will get the brownie points as they'll associate it with a work benefit if you're the one driving the bus.

Too many companies try to take these kinds of benefits away from employees expecting them to cop it sweet and stay with the company but the reality is erosion of an employees travel benefits may be the straw that breaks the camels back so when the employee quits the company then has the added expense of training new staff etc so it ends up being a penny wise pounds foolish decision.

I'm still amazed at some people when asked if they have a frequent flyer number respond with statements like "not that I know of", "I'm not really sure" or "is that the same as Fly Buys?"

Good on you for caring about your staff.

Thanks very much, I like to care of my guys here to encourage them to stay. Loss of staff is a killer of productivity and costs a lot. It's much easier to make them happy and encourage them to stay.

I actually do most of the company travel arrangements myself for the very reason I want to ensure we're maximising point earnings and I have the better knowledge of loyalty programs etc. The company really doesn't get much benefit but for myself or the staff I like them to build status to get lounge access and the points they accumulate they can also spend on their own personal holidays etc. I wish I had personally made it to Platinum on VA this year so if I'm travelling with more than one staff member I could take them all into the lounge with me. Currently if we can't all get in then we just stick together outside the lounges.

If your ABN is inserted into their bookings, then you'll double dip and be able to offer points bonuses to staff if you so wish, or just look after yourself... it all adds up.
