For anyone currently considering this card, the best sign on bonus (30,000 points) is currently available via a referral link from finder.com.au (so avoid using individual referral links, which only net you 15,000 points).

Amex has allowed 2 AMEX cards to be held simutaneouly. There must be few people on here without an AMEX card or 2. Anyone tested it on this card as yet?

PER - SYD available.

Thanks OP!

I have the Velocity Platinum, and applied for this last night, went straight through without an issue, will let you know if bonus points post or not.

Good luck Radio8tiv. I think in another post you said that you'd cancelled an Amex card in the past 12 months, as I have. It says in that case, we'd be ineligible - but is yet to be seen. Looking forward to your positive outcome before the end of the month so that I can apply too. ;)

Excellent find adelee - this is one of the best offers I've seen for the Edge! It expires in less than 3 weeks so if you want to take advantage don't delay too much.

If you don't currently hold (or haven't held in the last 12 months) an AMEX card earning Ascent or Ascent Premium Membership Rewards points I reckon you'll be just fine. Don't hold me to that of course, but in my experience that will be the case.

Good luck - I hope it works out for you!

My Velocity Plat is due for renewal soon so it will get the boot just before then, I'm pretty hopeful of getting the points on this one as Mrs.Radio also has the Velocity Platinum (we both got one last year with the 110k promo) and she earlier this year got the Qantas Premium card with the 80k promo and her points posted.

So you might be right, you may be able to apply on the different programs and take advantage.

Just thought I would update on this
16/8 applied
24/8 card received
24/8 minimum spend achieved
26/8 30k welcome bonus received
so a good result YMMV

Applied for this and it arrived yesterday. After activating at 2pm, went straight to Coles to buy $1050 worth of Father's Day $100 M/C Gift cards. The card was rejected. Called Amex and they said there was suspicious activity on the card, but no one from the fraud team was available to talk to me. Waited 2 hours and called again, still no one to talk to me.

Finally, at 9am this morning they rang, got my ID and said I was now ready to use the card. I expressed my displeasure as it could have been sorted out at 3pm yesterday, and that I expect from AMEX who normally have such good customer relations etc etc. We'll see if I get an inconvenience bonus I asked for. ;)

Anyway, they have confirmed the sign on bonus even though I have a cancelled card recently.

May I confirm that there were no Father's Day M/C promotion from Coles when you bought those giftcards right?

I think there was a target promo for 1000 flybuys point for each $100 card bought .

Looks like this offer has expired. I think the referrals are the best deal at moment for any looking to get the Edge.

Just a quick note to advise that I've definitely not achieved the sign on bonus on this card (spend reached 4 days ago and nothing has credited - in my experience it's usually instantaneous). I recently cancelled both the Velocity Platinum and Platinum Charge. I suspect the fact that I already had an Ascent (premium) account through the Charge is the reason for not qualifying. In any case, the Edge will be a good long term card for me, so will hang on to it for the long haul.

Will be interesting to see how I go with the Explorer (will report in the other thread on outcome of my minimum spend for that card).

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the bonus points, but I'm not really surprised (as you had the Ascent Premium account already). If you'd been apply the other way around Edge -> Charge I would have expected you to get the points (of course not really relevant in your case). The Edge does make a great long term card though - so worth it even without the bonus points in my opinion.

Good luck with the Explorer application - fingers crossed you get the bonus points.

Why would it be any different if you had applied for the Edge first then the Platinum as both earn Ascent points.
