Hi guys,
I have recently applied for this card for the family. I think it's a great way to get SPG points specifically and I'm posting this offer due to the 45,000 referral that's a real drawcard as once transferred to SPG points can be pooled within the family.
I find this a great way to get SPG points specifically as its 30,000 MR = 15,000 SPG for $99. The reason the current offer is good is that you can get a 45,000 referal bonus. So in my instance I have referred 2 family members and have 30,000+45,000 from each of them to pool + my initial 30,000 to raise 180,000 MR = 90,000 SPG for $99x3. SPG points can be pooled between family members so you can send from AMEX to SPG and then pool them together in one account.
MY fingers are crossed that SPG has another bonus transfer like last year when 20,000 SPG converted to 30,000 AA. To give an idea of what you can get with SPG/AA, 80,000 AA points gets you a return business class ticket to anywhere in Asia.
Anyhow, I recommend getting this card for AA accumulation purposes 1.5SPG points per $1 at supermarkets and petrol stations or just for the sign on bonus of course.

- 30,000 AMEX MR points sign on bonus = 15,000 SPG points
- 45,000 Refer a friend bonus there after = 22,500 SPG points
- 3x points at Supermarket and Petrol should you wish to use to accumulate SPG (note below)
- $99 fee
- NB David Jones points convert for 2:1 basis so not as valuable as normal Amex Edge points for example which are more flexible. It's really about the signon and referal bonus
- Refer a friend by 31st July, Apply by 15th August (current dates)
- NB Family members all hold other Amex cards and received points and have held this card specifically also but >12months ago.
