What is Virgin Australia's strategy (post-administration)?

Was a few hundred million I recall that was borrowed from Velocity. It was reported that even the finance teams inside VAA didn’t know about it. The market most certainly has no idea. Was a nice surprise when the creditors reports started coming out.

What is Virgin Australia's strategy (post-administration)?

We will get a better read of the financials when they go public. Although I do recall when they had been public previously, was a bit of cash ‘moving’ around behind the scene, especially between Velocity and VAA. Things had been much worse behind closed doors.

Qantas Expands International Network - Commences Flights To Seoul & Bengaluru

Surely Melbourne is up next. Taiwan is another interesting one. Eva has never ventured beyond BNE, always is full. Perhaps a MEL or SYD opportunity?

What is Virgin Australia's strategy (post-administration)?

Another $200m due to expire next June so expect another large figure next FY. Bain will argue they took on the credits on in good faith when they took the business out of administration. What stands out for me, is the flying business still isn’t that profitable. Jetstar’s domestic flying which...

What is Virgin Australia's strategy (post-administration)?

I actually missed this bit. It’s hard to get a read on how profitable the ‘flying’ side of the business is. Doesn’t appear as flash as previously thought.

What is Virgin Australia's strategy (post-administration)?

It’s heading in the right direction. Margin should increase on the back of Rex demise boosting city margins and newer equipment coming in. Still some of work to run on Margin, 10/11% is where the target should be. I’d be watching that closely and see if they can improve on that.

A general 2-4-2 economy class layout on the 777-300ER?

I have never seen a 777 in a 2-4-2 with any operator in Y regardless.

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

Jetstar said after an ABC Investigation a few years ago, it pays its Thai based crew who operate 787 flights, after all allowances, around $700AUD week. The hourly rate is quite low, but allowances really bump up the salary. That’s about half when comparing to local crews. I believe Singapore...

Cabin Crew are Asian based I recall.

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

I wonder if Virgin will keep the VH-REX rego?

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

Not sure how many aircraft are left, but 737 VH-MFM or ‘Michael Francis McCormack’ 😵‍💫 has left the country MEL-DPS.

What is up with Etihad's Australian operations?

Two more A380s are coming back next year, Feb and July. They have already announced Singapore, they have said one more destination is coming, hopefully MEL or SYD is the other.

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

If VA was still somewhat interested I would have expected it to be parked in ASP. Lessor would have been caught out the paying for a D check prior to the Rex entry, now stuck with further engineering bills post another administration, certainly gets to the point where a write off is a easier...

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

The third not taken up aircraft must be in a poor state if it’s heading for the desert, must need major work, not to say that it won’t appear later on though, seems like light engineering work can be done fairly quick, but any major works would be a long wait.

    AFR's Joe Aston goes BAM!

I found it here, $21.60 if you have everyday extra. I can’t seem to pre order it however, will check next week, delivery is only $4 (too lazy to go into the store) Most other retailers are high $30s. I assume Kmart and Target will have it...

    AFR's Joe Aston goes BAM!

Isn’t this book just going to be a re hash of the last year or two from Joe Aston’s columns? I don’t think anything inside the book will be unknown. Essentially I assume it’s just all his work combined into a book. I read his articles, and do agree with most of what he writes, but I don’t...

    Last QantasLink 717 service

Apparently the subsidiary has internal issues, mainly pilot related, it’s similar to what is playing out in Perth with its Network Aviation subsidiary. So no real farewell isn’t a shock really.

    Everyday Rewards Targeted Offers

No offers here either. However I did buy a Logitech keyboard for my old folks from BIGW for $99 and had 7000 bonus points. Wasn’t compatible so took it back for refund, but the 7000/3500 QFF points had already converted, however it would appear they don’t take these off me.

What is up with Etihad's Australian operations?

Etihad is about to enter a new era of growth, quite a bit coming, seem likely that a new destination will be announced locally. I can see PER or BNE coming back. Both are performing very strongly for the others so hard to say which one...
