SkyBus gone up again [Up to $23.90 one way]

901 bus. It usually meshes pretty well with the train timetable. Also the 901 stops next to the station now, instead of over the other side of the road. I often catch it, since I live in suburbia and have to pay for a train anyhow. If I was coming home from the airport now, PTV says it'd take...

    Qantas hotel price promise

I've looked at Qantas hotels a few times, but with the effective 10% discount (1 free night in 10) on hotels.com, I've never found an instance where Qantas hotels was better value. And about a year ago, I booked the Windsor for $137/night through hotels.com. Same price as the Windsor's web site...

    QantasLink to operate A320

The fares charged for regional WA flights are awful. Cost to fly PER-KTA/BME/etc is usually way higher than PER-MEL/SYD/etc. JQ-level A320s with no modification would be an even worse deal and I'd hope businesses would reward QF by switching to VA if that happens.

    Row 4 - 737

This seems to be of limited use. I tried it on my upcoming QF reservations. Bookings made through AA couldn't be accessed at all. Bookings made through BA came up fine, but attempting to select seats bombed out with an error message. The only one that worked was a reservation booked directly...

VA LAX Catering Debacle November 2017

I'm thin and I'd be totally miserable if this happened. Airlines such as VA sell an experience, not a bus ride. One of the activities that keeps people entertained and happy during a flight is eating. Failing to provide the advertised level of catering and failing to advise customers in advance...

    Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

As usual, I've been accumulating Flybuys and waiting for the next 15% Virgin bonus. Today it arrived, 3 days after I departed on an overseas trip. Doing a transfer through my home proxy worked fine, but not everyone has that or a VPN setup. As a comparison, transferring Amex Membership Rewards...

    Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

I don't know what else to say to someone who is continually and apparently deliberately missing the point. Does EY offer time-limited bonus transfer offers? If not, it's close to irrelevant. If they do, then that is relevant for EY users. If VA sends me an offer and Flybuys have things set up...

    Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

It has everything to do with VA. If it weren't for VA's bonus transfer offer, the geo-block wouldn't matter. You could just leave the transfer until you get home. Yes, it also matters if you get other kinds of time-limited Flybuys bonus transfer offers, but I'm not aware of any such offers and...

    Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

No, it's not a good defence layer. Crooks buy and sell lists. If a leaked/brute forced password is out there, an overseas crook will just sell it to someone who can access it. Who is going to amass significant amounts of points in Flybuys while not in Australia seems to me to be an irrelevant...

    Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

I don't understand how anyone justifies this line of thought. The point of joining a frequent flyer scheme is to travel. Therefore, there's a good chance that a points transfer originating outside Australia is because the user is travelling. Whether I click on the transfer link when I'm in...

    Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

I reported to VA that I thought it was bad for them, as it might make people less likely to take advantage of special offers and therefore more likely to use their Flybuys elsewhere. Not a big deal for me. I circumvented the blocking, but not everyone is set up to do that easily.

    Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

Just thought I'd warn others that Flybuys geo-blocks transfers, but not other parts of their web site. This way, if you receive a special offer while you are overseas, you need to be able to circumvent geo-blocking in order to take advantage of it. How can they be this stupid? It's inevitable...

July Flybuys 10% Velocity Transfer Bonus

I received an email today offering me 15%. It said it was specifically for the recipient of the email and that the extra 5% would post up to 4 weeks after 31st July. (Which I guess means up to 5 weeks later, since Virgin often fail to meet their own terms and conditions, even when the durations...

Same here. Tried two different versions of Firefox and a Kindle. None of them work.

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion UA doesn't allowing going through North Asia to get to South Asia any more, so MEL-PVG-BKK is no longer valid. (Unfortunately, that makes some places impossible to get to (e.g. CEB) when the only *A carriers are from North Asia (e.g. OZ/CA/NH.)...

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion Do LM have routing rules listed anywhere? I've used UA MileagePlus for years (originally by crediting flights to them and later by topping up when there's a 100% bonus offer or similar) and have only looked at LM as an option. With UA, you can...

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion Assuming you could transfer the miles why would you use Avianca for this? Their SE Asia J is 40k each way. United charges 30k each way with the option of an extra stopover.

    Virgin Slow with points

What about all their non-airline partners? When Virgin has offers of bonuses with BP or Australia Post or whatever, they usually say we should allow up to 5 or 6 weeks for the bonus to post. They often fail to meet even that pathetic self-imposed deadline! I did the activation of Global Wallet...

SkyBus gone up again [Up to $23.90 one way]

Who does that?! And even then, they would be half the distance if the stop was in the closest corner of the building instead of hidden away as far away as possible in the opposite corner.

SkyBus gone up again [Up to $23.90 one way]

I'm sure they had to pay big bribes to Melbourne Airport to get them to put the public buses as far away as possible with no signage.
