Ah, last time we were there in the Manaia lounge (no thanks to Virgin!) our flight got delayed 2 hours... Never been so happy about Priority Pass 🤣

    2025 travel plans

Feb to Japan, some hiking in the Japan Alps and onsen (hopefully in snow!). Then to Kyoto (long time no see!) and Hyogo for some winter crabbing 🤣 Want to cycle the Shimanami Kaido in Nov plus some onsen hopping in Yamaguchi and Northern Kyushu, but out of points as of now...hoping for a sale...

    CI A350 + Cathay A330 vs JAL 787-8 J

Call me crazy but I don't think the difference between Marhaba & The House is big enough to outweigh the Domestic-International transfer at SYD!

    CI A350 + Cathay A330 vs JAL 787-8 J

Yes I am based in MEL. CI and JL were both exclusively Marhaba for quite some time, I am sadly very familiar with it. 😢However it is still better than the QF dungeon for those of us can't get into the Flounge. The House seems to be a new thing for CI, I don't know when it started. Only thing I...

    CI A350 + Cathay A330 vs JAL 787-8 J

Late for the discussion. I am however familiar with all 3... that is to say personally I don't like the JAL Apex Suites, but if you are tall it can be more comfortable than the reserve herringbones. I am flying MEL-TPE-NRT with CI & CX next year - note that CX change aircraft on its Taiwan -...

    CI A350 + Cathay A330 vs JAL 787-8 J

Okay let me clarify, when I travelled in May 24, I was told both The House and Marhaba were available. I went to The House because hey that's an obvious choice!

    A short(ish) trip to Japan

Green is not first class though, that would be Gran Class. I'd say Green is similar to business class. Gran Class not available on Tokaido Shinkansen sadly.... See here: https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/threads/trains-of-japan-a-review-thread.112211/post-2642584

    A short(ish) trip to Japan

Galen is big in the fountain pen community, their products are great but yeah not cheap.... My travel journal has two inserts and one clear zipper folder, it does get big with all the receipts and things I put in the zipper but nowhere near your picture 😂 I have been to Kurashiki but somehow...

    A short(ish) trip to Japan

Wow that is bulky! How many inserts do you have in there? Any special ones? I'm eyeing the Galen leather wallet insert but damn that is expensive! Also thinking about going to Kurashiki next trip to get a custom one by TSL.....yeah, maybe I just need excuses to buy more 🤣

    A short(ish) trip to Japan

ha, mine are set up all different! The Tokyo Station one was my first (you can probably tell from the leather), it's the designated travel journal now. Kyoto one is my Japanese language notebook, for my class and everything else in Nihongo. The new Tokyo edition is my diary. I don't like to put...

    A short(ish) trip to Japan

Oh it's surely a good idea to book when your plans are fixed. I'm just shocked at how things are these days. And that's why people don't know half of the places on my route....
