Mrscove is the real Qantas shareholder even though the shares are jointly owned. She got them for us in the float all those years ago. We now don’t fly with QF internationally because they are not good enough. It may change but Qatar is coming.

You should be ok getting in @RooFlyer . Go early and sit in an aisle seat if you want to poke questions at the Qantas directors. You will get a microphone to ask questions. The board may have done rehearsals for the AGM to make it look sweet.

Well @prozac we deliberately leave Tasmania off our maps so that we can retreat there.

Just looked at the Qantas AGM date and it clashes with the Waterco meeting date. I do hope someone gets stuck into the gutless board of directors this year but it won't be me.

I hope that JDO don't go zooming as we only bought 50,000 for a look and see. If their next report is ok I will consider getting a lot more. Patience can be a virtue. For a fixed income player there is JDOPA hybrid that is a gross 10.85% less the premium of the hybrid at around $111 that will...

Got the idea from LSF who think they could be a winner. We have been long term investors in LSF. They are hopping Judo is a stock that could easily double. Yesterday a friend told me he opened a term deposit with Judo in his superfund and it was all done in a few minutes. He had just sold his...

So far I got the worst result as I am a creature of habit flying with my preferred companies and avoiding change. My days of going Easyjet and similar are unlikely to re-occur.

We are long term holders of Cyclopharm and took up the issue at $1.42. Very happy with their news last week and it was good enough to move CYC.

Have looked for an up and coming bank for quite a while as the big 4 banks are in idle mode with their profitability and have lowish customer satisfaction. I just bought some JDO which is Judo Capital at $1.64 as they are 5 years old and growing as a newish SME bank lender. Judo has predicted a...

This afternoon we heard a friend has been diagnosed with dementia at 78 after a brilliant career as an expert in his field. We are quite stunned.

Have my annual check up with my cardiologist this Friday. With my GP away in the U.K. I won’t have my latest blood readings but I have my A1C back at 6.3 from 6.7/6.8 range last time. Always interesting to see him for guidance as he is incredibly underweight compared with me. Another year without...

Melbourne mad cow dinner - Olive Tree 7pm, Wed. 27 Nov2024

We plan to be in Victoria for both Crowded House and Coldplay but not for the AFL grand final. It could be our attempt to resuscitate the Victorian economy from doom and gloom.

QF is Australia's second most distrusted brand

To think that bonuses are still being paid just shows us why the board of directors needs to be changed.

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

With APRA moving to eliminate bank hybrid capital notes by 2032 there was a bit of a rush on Friday for CBAPM which runs to 2030.That one is a 3% plus the bank bill rate so 7.35% gross. Now that was a nice parking spot for surplus funds while we search for a long term investment but the latest...

Well @VPS going thru scanners can be a bit more time consuming. Usually belt off and often shoes off and empty pockets to go for the extra scanning. We went to Wide Fit Shoes in London to get slip on sneakers as having a titanium knee makes getting shoes on and off trickier. Of course my scrap...

Six million people a year would use train to Melbourne Airport

All ahead slow for this project. Sure Melbourne needs it. With the Victorian Government being in a financial pickle, maybe a privately funded direct rail line should be considered. Like a Transurban road but a rail line instead. Give them a 50 year concession maybe.
