I have only been acknowledged as a Platinite on AirNZ flights. Row 3 helps, but generally on Virgin flights you are just another flying punter. The recognition and respect is confined to the Lounge.

No Rex security at Merimbula. In the past flying into MEL/SYD you were screened on arrival. Flew to MEL last month - no screening on arrival. Don't really feel safe with Rex anymore; easier to drive to Canberra and fly Virgin. (much cheaper too.)

Probably post-Qantas war, Virgin will stick to the rules (unless wallet is opened).

As a citizen who has lived in both SYD and MEL, I think many inner-city residents of both would find this quite amusing.

Fair enough clazman. All I can contribute is this: (consistently) wear a suit and all staff call you 'Sir', whereas in casual clothes all staff call you 'mate". Same person, same row 3f seat, same sale ticket.

I wear a suit and tie, yet 95% of my flights are sale class. Looks can be deceptive.

I do not subscribe to the maxim 'if it isn't nailed down - grab it'. I have accumulated a healthy collection of nails over the years though.

I agree. Positive experiences stick in the memory longer. Sadly, the positive/negative ratio seems to drift each year.
