Yes, just like water gets recycled. All those used cakes left behind are donated to the organisation I linked to that then sends them to the 3rd world.

Thanks for sharing the link, interesting. There's a description of the process used on the website too. I am guessing concerns are around the hygiene aspects, I am sure the process would take care of these elements, and in any event the end users of said soap wouldn't be in the germophobic category .....

Never thought about that. When packing I'll always pack my shoes in a plastic shopping bag and take a cpl others as they always come in handy and take next to no space. Using shower caps for this purpose (unless absolutely necessary) seems like a waste.

I agree. We shop so much when on holidays, we always end up with heaps of plastic bags which I use for shoes and dirty laundry.

Hotels in China are the best and so is the service. At Conrad Sanya and Conrad Macau I got a choice of 3 different luxury amenities.
Sorry, did I say choice? I got them all!

Should be 4 now boomy. Ask for the "men's amenities" too, in a plastic see through case.

The Peter Roth stuff is a constant in my gym bag, and I use it all up, nothing wasted. I even take an occasional Hilton laundry bag - I find them ideal to contain my sweaty gym clothes during the working day. I'm sure my colleagues appreciate the lack of odor from my work area. I also have a cloth Sofital laundry bag - I keep that one nice-and-clean: it's for storing my shirts/clean things.

Sofitel had a good shoe bag too.

i tend to take the shower gel, it's good for when travelling HLO and I found quite a few hotels in the States don't supply any (cake soap instead which I usually can't use).

Ha ha. I was going to mention Langham Place as well.

Everything I take home goes to Women's emergency shelters, or Flood victims. I was surprised at how welcome these kits were in Brisbane in recent years. Sometimes, when people arrive at shelters, just a new hair brush and slippers is a luxury (thank you Japan). I package up full kits in ziplock bags.

I don't feel guilty taking amenities that were included in the hotel price.

I keep the travel size shampoo & conditioner from the FLounge to use while I'm travelling as its the same product I use at home!

So did I ..... until I was educated by this thread. Apparently you are welcome to anything that isn't bolted down, and the cost has been included in the airfare/room price.

Silly me for only using amenities I actually need at the time. I will now start up a business selling all the "freebies" I stuff into my bags from wherever I have been, just don't blame me when prices go up to cover this additional "shrinkage".

I do not subscribe to the maxim 'if it isn't nailed down - grab it'. I have accumulated a healthy collection of nails over the years though.

I don't usually take the toiletries from hotels. Having said that, the ones from Raffles in Singapore made it into my bag.

I don't feel guilty taking the soap. After all I have paid for it.

I don't use shampoo and didn't bother taking it in the past until I was told it's good to wash dogs with it so now take the shampoo as well.
