"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Maybe. But if points cost partners more, and the partners also value them more (because customer demand rises), then maybe bonuses and conversion rates don’t have to be reduced? Need an economist to chime in on this one.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

"changes are expected to focus on improving member engagement, increasing the value of a point to partners. Over time, these higher billings are expected to offset the higher program cost and lower breakage" So, Qantas plans to sell more points at a higher price to partners (banks etc) to...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Would be great if you could get 1.5 cents per point on a sale business class fare ($6k fare for 400k points). I'll be shocked if that is possible.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Very interesting indeed. This line was *not* in the first version of the article (looking at the two snapshots on Archive.Today)

TripADeal with 50% off using Qantas points

2 cents per point is solid, assuming the underlying price of the tour is good value and not inflated.

It remains to be seen whether sale fares will be eligible for Reward+!

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

I literally just sorted this out. Amex were not helpful so I contacted Priority Pass via the contact form on their website. Took a few weeks but the expiry date is now updated.

But we don’t know this yet, do we? Maybe there will be something good here for Points Club members.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

It makes sense that Qantas goes down this path. Even at double the price, CR seats would get snapped up very fast. The only way to ensure a commercially viable *large* increase in supply (assuming that’s the plan) is a large increase in the points cost. If they offer regular promos where...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

P+P will stay as a form of payment. They may even reduce the value of it to differentiate it from the limited-availability Reward+.

I've edited my post They also shared this screenshot on FB, but I can't replicate it myself

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

I just saw this on Facebook. 1 cent per point, plus taxes and fees, with limited availability Underwhelming if true https://flighthacks.com.au/qantas-will-launch-dynamic-pricing/

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

But this “Classic” label in the search results is new, isn’t it? Which suggests they are sticking with it?

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Yeah, looks like you select "Rewards" on the search form, and in the results you'll see "Classic" for CR and presumably another label for the new rewards option.

Virgin Australian "Trade Sale" - who would be best?

To grow the business, Virgin really needs to offer something enticing like Star Alliance membership. Also, I imagine any oneworld member or Emirates would face competition hurdles to acquiring VA.

Virgin Australian "Trade Sale" - who would be best?

Bain may want an eye-popping price but the business isn’t strong enough and they won’t get it. Virgin didn’t take any market share off Qantas during its troubles over the last year, and VA profits are miniscule. That’s why there’s no IPO (and Hrdlicka got sacked). It could be a good...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Maybe a small increase in the SC earn rate, but still nowhere near the cash fare rate? That would make sense
