I have flown my first segment on this promo and am waiting for the DSC, but I am in no rush. So long as it comes through eventually.

Still waiting for my first lot of DSC from this promo, but that’s expected as I haven’t flown on it yet. Glad that hopefully I won’t need to wait long.

If QF had offered a great sale to NZ like they did a few years ago I might have tried to get P1. I regret a bit not booking more when return indirect J to NZ on DSC was about $1k. I didn’t expect prices to go up, certainly not nearly as much as they have since then

Bringing back the A380 to QF9/10 would help a bit but I can’t see that happening sadly

Years ago I got a small serve of points without asking for it when I had a 14 hr flight where the entertainment system was down for the entire plane. The flight was significantly delayed to try to fix it, but in the end we went anyway with it still broken.

My strategy has been to try to work towards LTG then after getting that look to use classic awards/upgrades as much as possible. If availability to LHR doesn’t improve for SG then I may need to rethink this strategy.

They may have fixed it, but past experience would suggest that they may not have. I don’t want to have to manually chase up DSC so I always wait before making my first booking.

Even though QF displays dates in Sydney time for promos, in practice their computer systems use GMT. So bookings made before midnight GMT on the opening day of promos don’t credit DSC automatically.

Pre-COVID there was often a promo later in the year targeted at some Frequent Flyers. QF may bring that back if conditions suit them to offer it.

The advantage of P1 is being able to gift WP and a soft landing back to WP so if you have a lot of points you could try to book classic rewards if you can for more flights. Another option with the soft landing would be to use OW or Emirates more etc. if they will be cheaper or suit your schedule...

Note also that typically those who fly at the very start of the flying window may have to wait a bit longer before DSC start posting.

I have plenty of points but finding even just 1 premium return seat to LHR at peak travelling times is a big problem. Put in for upgrades as late as at the gate from Y for my last return trip to LHR which was in the UK summer and failed both ways. I was a SG back then too.

I think the general consensus is that unless you get most of the way to attaining/retaining WP from employer funded travel it becomes much harder to justify if you have LTG. LTP is set at such an unattainable level for most that there’s no lifetime status target on QF to aim for after reaching...

If everyone knows all the secrets and exploits then they may be closed meaning no one benefits from them. It’s a balance. People here want to help, but generally don’t want to lose benefits at the same time

I registered twice now, but I still have no email confirming that I registered.
