Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

Hm. It seems my post has caused a bit of a stir, both in this thread and via DM.

I admit to some confusion. This entire website exists (in part) in order to share tips and tricks not known to the average flyer. Everything I posted I learned from this very forum, via public posts.

I find it very doubtful that Qantas isn't aware of this loophole. They either choose not to do anything to stop it because they see it as beneficial, or cannot do anything to stop it because of IT limitations. If the latter, I'd be surprised if it was high on their list of priorities to fix given all the other issues they're facing on multiple fronts.

If a moderator decides my post contravenes the rules of the board, then fair enough (although I'd want to know what rules have been broken). But as far as I can see I'm contributing to the board by sharing information in the same way I've benefited from other members sharing the very same information - and more - over the years.
I believe the saying is..

The first thing about fight club is….

Some things just don’t need to be posted publicly

I think the biggest thing is having the key words spelled out. Its one thing to post about it, its another to have it not be easily searchable with the key words.

And I've tried searching, it's not easy. Even if you change your post to acronyms there would be less of an issue other people would have. The information was there before, just you couldn't ctrl+F it very easily nor is it one long post in public detailing the ins and outs.

It doesn't mean the information wasn't there.

It appears popular opinion is against me. I've been around various fora long enough to predict what internet drama and vitriol is likely to ensue should Qantas decide to close this particular loophole, and it's drama and vitriol that I can live without. So I've deleted the post. Though it has soured me somewhat on the AFF experience. I thought this was a community that was about sharing useful information rather than keeping such under wraps for those in the know. Oh well, c'est la vie.

If everyone knows all the secrets and exploits then they may be closed meaning no one benefits from them. It’s a balance.

People here want to help, but generally don’t want to lose benefits at the same time

I registered twice now, but I still have no email confirming that I registered.
I registered once and received two emails confirming that I had registered! 🤣 Seems like the system is a bit random at the moment!

... if you are 'in the know'. Not so if you are not.

That's the thing. There is no actual secret. It is what it is which is the way it has been for many years.

Yes - and all over other forums as PF posted above. I think there are some pretty selfish attitudes being expressed - by those 'in the know'.

Registered via the app, no confirmation email yet although the app is telling me that I've registered.

For once in my life the timing of this is good. I have about four work trips I've been needing to book.

Me too! I had just booked a very short trip for next month, but my membership year is end-of-March anyway so it wouldn't have been that much of a benefit anyway.

Time to plan out my bigger QF trips for the rest of the year.

Sorry you have felt the need to delete a perfectly legitimate post after pressure from some here (few of whom seem to be paid members). AFF should be about sharing FF tips, not keeping them amongst a lucky few.

I was going to look closely at your post tonight. Do you think you could PM me the gist of it, please?

Might suggest to @Mattg to include it in an up-coming webinar.

That's relevant for a couple of years ago but virals like tik tok have spoiled a lot of the 'hidden' stuff that can be discussed. Because once it's out there on such platforms the game is over. Thats ah, (not) progress for you. I made a similar mistake about Points club a few months ago. Rules of the FC.

From the T's & C's:

> If you cancel your initial qualifying booking or change it to be outside the promotional period, the double Qantas Points or double Status Credits offer will not apply.

I assume that means if you book something this week, change it later so that it's still within the appropriate period, the DSC still applies?

For example, I book a QF flight this week during the offer for a flight date of May 2nd. In three week's time, if I change it to be May 3rd, the DSC still applies on that flight right?

Yes, the T&Cs as you've quoted explicitly rule out changes that land outside of the period, but are silent on changes within the travel period. I think this is another topic that shouldn't be discussed outright.
