Good News! Pyjamas on (almost) all Qantas international flights in J!

Just to have a dig at all those Qantas haters out there- it’s actually REALLY nice that Qantas provides PJs for Business class to begin with. And I always LOVED them with the roo on it!

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Or at the last minute. See this increasingly to be the case, both over at Velocity and at Qantas. Which doesn’t sit well with someone like me who prefers planning everything months ahead.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Thank you summarising it up so well, there’s nothing really left to say and this thread was becoming a bit silly. Woolies advertising a “from” fare of 8,000 Qantas (!) points is perfectly fine and VERY different from the usual whinge that one cannot find three or four seats on the same flight...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Yea, I can’t recall seeing it anywhere either. Might have advertised 8,000 Qantas points OR there’s some local Woolies shop having an old poster stuck somewhere. Not totally inconceivable but that would be a REALLY old poster. I’d wage it’s rather the former.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

I wanted to post the same but then realised that he was probably talking about Woolies points which then is precisely half once converted into Qantas currency. So yes, 16,000 Woolies Everyday Rewards points equals 8,000 Qantas points. But it has been this for many years now so not really a...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

THAT is your worry??? Gosh, it has been pre-Covid from memory since Woolies points have been halved from memory. Domestic awards, especially in J, are still one of the bright spots in Qantas’ program in my opinion. No issues ever to find availability and I do SYD-MEL and SYD-BNE rather often.

Article: Most of today's flights to Sydney are sold out due to Taylor Swift

Common, common sense? We’re talking about Taylor Swift fans here… :p

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

I think holding points with BOTH Qantas and Velocity is the sweet spot. As a recent example, we managed to score J class reward seats to Singapore and back just a few days before Christmas- out on SQ via Velocity on the 23rd and back on BA via Qantas on 3rd Jan. A few days in SIN and then...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I’m usually on this thread for the food (obs!) but this picture of beautiful Sydney is absolutely gorgeous! Reminds me why I love living here

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Oh, not that old chestnut about people not caring about their flights! Those “scooters” are not the ones making Qantas money, are they? 😴

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Couldn’t agree more. Nothing I hate more than Qantas claiming they’ve improved award availability and it’s always those useless Economy seats. If I want to torture myself in the back of the bus, then might as well pay it outright. For me, the value solely comes when you’re redeeming or upgrade...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

They got printed menus back on the Tasman? Wow, THAT is an enhancement. If we now also brought back the pre-Covid style truly international meal options…

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

I'm calling it now- it will be sh%4 for customers but good for Qantas' shareholders.

Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

They needed to get cracking with this about ten years ago. I believe it when I see more than a picture wall

Article: Loyalty Programs Creating Two Tiers of the Same Status

Not so sure of this is still the case post-Covid. With companies getting stingier on business travel and more savvy with remote meetings, I get the feeling that this mix is shifting. Lots of self-funded travel these days even “up the front”, whether for pleasure or as small and medium business...

Article: Loyalty Programs Creating Two Tiers of the Same Status

True, I’m also not a fan personally. The article briefly mentions this- my main gripe is that it devalues the actual benefits if every Tom, Dick and Harry gets status just by means of having the right credit card. Case in point- both Marriott and Hilton Gold is near worthless these days. Which...

Article: How to Stop Airlines Losing Your Checked Baggage

They could tell if they wanted to but I think this is just a scare tactic that JAL check in staff (and even their third party contractors at outstation airports) get trained to use. I doubt that it’s even “official” policy and I never got into trouble for just ignoring it. What did I overhear a...

Article: How to Stop Airlines Losing Your Checked Baggage

Or just ignore this non-sense. Had this happen to us multiple times now and we certainly did not open our suitcase in the last minute to take out the luggage tag just because JAL prefers one to not know that the suitcase is sitting somewhere in a shed at NRT… Speaking of- that’s the one issue...

    Oneworld Explorer ticketing

Gosh, out of pure curiosity I've just wasted about 20 minutes on this artificial not-so intelligent chatbot. Worse than many and they pretty much all are bad in my experience. As an aside, connected to these experiences: Unless the Terminators want us all to live in blissful ignorance of what's...

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

I love that Centric in Melbourne. Maybe location not ideal but not a biggie with those trams everywhere. Otherwise- such a nice hotel, modern, stylish und service top. Quite affordable usually too and good on Globalist recognition as well. One of my favourite Hyatts in Australia.
