I had exactly the same thing happening today and it was definitely Hobart I was speaking to. Sounded to me as if this was a rather new, very scripted, way to keep our hopes up. But we all know that it’s a rejection.

The totally unexpected free ones are the ones where I get seriously excited. But making a dance in public? Not really my style, no.

One World really needs one of the Chinese mainland airlines as a member. I know that Cathay are blocking this but I’ve seen rumours of CX being swallowed by Air China sooner or later. We will see what the future brings.

Problem with that lounge is that they stop offering any proper hot food past mid afternoon (unless this has changed since the pandemic as I’ve been there last just shortly after the final NZ lockdown- happy to be corrected) which is essentially making this the worse longe in the whole airport if...

I keep saying this as it’s astounding to me: American keep doing this- pre departure drinks on most flights (dependent on the crew but the standard seems to be yes, do it) and pre-selection of main meal, even on Domestic flights. You don’t even have to look as far as QR or SQ. If AA can do it...
