The "I am in self-isolation" thread

Not sure...son in law's a detective; and as "Pa" is one of the few words our grandson can say his absence might be noticed. Dunno what I'm grizzling about, I've been trying to amend some of his habits for 49 years - but I won't be defeated!

The "I am in self-isolation" thread

I've got 2 compost bins AND a worm farm, and 3 raised veggie plots.....hmmmm 1585082230 One of my English relos emailed me earlier - to remind me that the last thing out of Pandora's box was Hope...

The "I am in self-isolation" thread

We might be having a funeral around here if MrMac keeps offering 'helpful' suggestions as I toil away on the huge gardening project (we moved house 7 weeks ago and embarked on a major prune/tidy up). We were saying last night we dodged a bullet when we auctioned our house last year & bought this...

What is China's plan to come out of lock-down?

Ask yourself which of all the countries in the world will benefit from this? China first and foremost. They will come out of this totally tooled up, cashed up, minus a few million citizens, one expects mostly the elderly who would likely require care of some sort as the population ages. Heck...

Does Closing Beaches Make Any Sense?

Maybe not watching the news but hells bells they are never far away from a computer, and unless everything on their computer is in Swahili surely a nuggest or two about the situation must be getting through?

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I wrote yesterday on another thread that I think it's time the police were given extraordinary powers under emergency provisions to arrest people for this kind of thing, plus for the bast*&#s who are going to country towns and cleaning supermarkets out. I am certain that as things get tougher...

Does Closing Beaches Make Any Sense?

A quick snapshot on tv where reporter was talking to some younger people - and some young Brit girls lying on Bondi Beach, lying close enough for bodies to be touching. Absolutely NFI. And they thought it was fairly amusing that they didn't understand the message. With a 72 yo husband in the red...

    The view from my "office"

OK Plan B. Pretend they are going on a shore excursion and use rubber duckies. How many people were quarantined there, and did any of them actually come down with the virus? I assume it's just sitting empty

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) Panic Buying?

Coles in Langwarrin yesterday morning had meat, eggs, milk, plenty of fresh veggies and fruit. I didn't check the eggs - buy mine at an egg farm just up the road, tray of 30 for $10, Went past a lovely big Italian deli in Mordialloc on Saturday, and they had mince, all kinds of other meat -...

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) Panic Buying?

My brother was in Hastings (Vic) last week and up rolled a mini van, passengers disgorged & he said it was like a swarm of locusts. Really I think the Police should have powers under a State of Emergency to arrest. I've a vague idea they coiuld do that in WW2

Why don't they unload the passengers on Christmas Island? They've got tons of room and all the equipment??

The "I am in self-isolation" thread

MrMac & I self isolating as he's in the high risk category - highly compromised immune system, over 70, barracks for Collingwood..I put a sign on the door and it worked a treat on the guy who came knocking - I didn't catch if it was energy supplier or lightglobes but it was amusing to see how...

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) Panic Buying?

Seems to me that a lot of people who are supposed to be WFH are mucking about like 14 year olds. Very funny 14 year olds! 1584599745

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) Panic Buying?

A tip for anyone whose share portfolio has taken a shellacking. Buy up shares in Bowater Scott. Their sales must be through the roof. When my 3 girls lived at home I spent more money in a week on toilet paper, tissues and tampax than on everything else for the rest of the month!

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) Panic Buying?

MrMac is terrified I'm going to dust off the trusty tuna mornay I used to cook when we were first married. I accept it was pretty frightful....but he carried on so much I'm almost tempted to continue teasing

    The C word, R U OK?

I just got home from Mrmac's checkup with his ENT surgeon - a big tick, now we just have the hopefully final checkup with the Prof at the Alfred - and that's the cancer spectre gone. Not being able to buy toilet paper kind of pales in importance. I am sad my brother and I cannot go on his 70th...
