In hindsight I may have been better off going through the Amex insurance route during a recent visit to Tahiti. Our car was hit by another driver who admitted fault yet Hertz charged my Amex card AUD14k upon returning the car. 4 months later and I have only just been refunded by Hertz.

Not sure if it’s been discussed or not but appears that this offer has been extended to the end of 2025. I believe it was previously 2024.

I discussed it with a member of staff who mentioned that majority of their guests don't like pre-auths and would prefer to pay accommodation up front at check in. Though they didn't mention anything at check in about making an additional deposit for incidental spend.

V Hotel Dubai, Curio Collection by Hilton. I was asked to pay the full accommodation at check in which I thought was strange as I'm used to pre-auths being taken and accounts being settled at check out.

I stayed at a property in Dubai last week and they wouldn't allow me to room charge when I dined at the F&B outlets so I ended up paying directly. It occurred to me later how will I get the points for those charges. Do I just need to email the hotel directly or go through Hilton?

Stayed at Sofitel Sukhumvit last month. Location is in a good lively area very close to both Nana and Asok BTS stations. Rooms are recently refurbed. Breakfast was average for an Asian Sofitel imo. The Belgian rooftop restaurant was excellent.

Just about offsets their fees.
