Trains of Japan - A Review Thread

Just stumbled onto this thread. I don't quite have pictures of it as we didn't manage to catch it but there is a Pikachu themed train in Tohoku just past Sendai at ichinoseki. We were there to go to the beautiful Geibikei Gorge. https://www.jreast.co.jp/multi/en/joyful/pokemon.html Its...

Avianca LifeMiles – Bookings and Discussion

I believe one of the advantages of LM (even if its hard) is you can get some very whacky cheap bookings by using mix cabin and they'll take an average cost. So if you pair a Y with an F... It'll be cheaper than just booking the F outright. Difficulty is of course finding these unicorns.

    Jetstar Domestic Business

I feel as though there's only two types of pax that take this flight. 1) have no idea it's a domestic flight departing the Int'l terminal and get caught out by all the extra hassle. 2) have an agenda as to why they're taking JQ63. Whether that's to go visit Qantas First, flying a Dreamliner...

    Lounge Access Help Desk

The wing, deck and pier are all decent and even QF. Pier is definitely the best of the bunch but not so far ahead that I wouldn't consider the others if you want to move somewhere closer to the gate after a while.

    Emirates receive their first A350

I suspect they considered it and decided against it. You have to remember that emirates runs an actual 4 service cabin and if J is too close to F then the reason for F becomes fewer. Other airlines are actively trying to get rid of F and bumping their J up as a result.b

Denied Entry to QF 1st Lounge Singapore

Qatar showers can also be massively bottlenecked given there are only 2 shower suites per bathroom. I've always found depending on timing that QF J has potentially the better showering option if you can time it so that it's not at it's absolute peak. (for example after the first wave of QF...

Denied Entry to QF 1st Lounge Singapore

There's quite a lot of departures and arrivals. On a daily basis theres 5-6 a330 departures and 2 a380 departures all generally quite full. Then at the same time BA, AY flights also arrive and depart. There's some JL and QR that overlap too in the evening rush. Also the QF SIN F lounge...

Denied Entry to QF 1st Lounge Singapore

We did airside T1 > T4 in September amd it took us a solid 35 minutes. The bus ride itself is about 20 mins, but you need to wait for the bus. Then clearing security and everything before heading into the terminal proper. We made our Air Asia flight with about 10minutes before they closed the...

Return trip to Japan from Sydney, with a separate trip from Japan to Europe returning to Japan

If you're planning on spending a day in Tokyo, I would seriously consider HND over NRT. Basically in Sydney terms, its like landing into Katoomba area vs Bankstown area (Distance wise). From a quick glance, jetstar will not be much cheaper than Qantas, JAL or possibly Cathay via Hong Kong...

Return trip to Japan from Sydney, with a separate trip from Japan to Europe returning to Japan

Firstly I assume you mean 2026? if you mean 2025 Feb that would be pretty pricey now. While it is possible, if you're not booking this as award tickets, it will cost significantly more to book one ways than it is to book it as return trips. Also as it is SYD does not fly to NRT on any airline...

Will Qantas Ever Fly To China Again?

China is an all in market. You really need a local team and partner that could almost run most of the things themselves. At least thats if you want to target the Chinese audience. If not you're going to be hoping that the Western interest in China returns and perhaps in the future it becomes a...

I'll go through at the end of this month as JL36. But i suspect given when I'll pop in (before any QF flights come in) it might not be that full yet.

    Short Connection in HND

Just curious, does anyone know if we transit JL(T3) - JL (T1) at Haneda but miss the connection due to immigration, does JL rebook you onto the next flight? The dom flight in question would be HND - ITM so there should be some availability but it's on a peak day. Separate PNR in this case due...

    CGK IRROPS (QF42 24hr delay)

Typically the first question which you identified is how urgent do I want to get back and/or do I want to stay where I'm at. If you needed to get back, you can push QF to rebook you on ANY alternate airlines assuming seats are available. It does a take a bit of pushing sometimes though, but...

    Qatar vs Airfrance (for status)

I think what you want to consider is which airline (s) you want to ideally fly then seeing which program makes the most sense. For example, you might want to consider Star A and status match your QF Plat into Turkish status. This would see you having Star A Gold even on SQ (you could...
