Maintenance - well done I hope

MRO services are in high demand, with regular HKG visitors used to the sight of a red tail at Haeco. Even Air Canada has had to look wide and far, with them using ST at Singapore with one bird ferrying back to Syd yesterday to recommence work after a month in the sheds. 3k recently got back...

Fraud on Velocity Frequent Flyer accounts

There are very clear fingerprints left that any such touch would be new and not recurring, so unlikely to hinder any investigation from an IP security perspective.

    What cheeses me off

There used to be what I call Auckland Roosters that would go off at 2am here, which would be around dawn in NZ, have not heard them lately so I suspect they ended up in a pot

Best use of Suite Night Upgrades?

Their suites are IHG junior suites in most cases which are just bigger rooms with a balcony, not a seperate lounge with loo etc. I like the Ibis across the road, but not for an extended stay, and both suffer from lack of parking. The Mantra Hindmarsh also in that vicinity has great status...

Best use of Suite Night Upgrades?

The key to getting a good lower end hotel (especially Mercure) is it must be a new build or reno. I didn’t mind the Mercure Bugis but the loft beds were not great, lounge was nice, and on the flip side the Mercure Nusa Dua is twenty years past its knock down time. I would use a SNU at Mercure...

How long for Velocity cancelled award booking to refund points?

Pretty unlikely they took it straight away, usually if comes off your limit/balance but shows as pending while it works its way through the card/bank system for up to 5 days, same reason refunds take their time.

    What cheeses me off

The payments are slow though, if you use the app it’s free to do a direct debit but still slow. Pity they cannot come up with a payid type setup like Wise were it’s close to instant. And then there is their fraud detection system that blocks half of my legitimate transaction attempts, usually...

    Points flights from Dili?

They are there in ghost form, I suspect the lack of local ticketing capability may be throwing the engine out of whack, and a call required.

Best use of Suite Night Upgrades?

Which Mecure? The Haneda property is a favorite of mine re cost, locale is good for food and has a Lawton’s/7-11 nearby as well as a good drug store with the train just up the road. No suites here so SNUs are not usable, at circa $150 a night I suspect it’s better than the $400 Pullman option.

    What cheeses me off

If it’s a Pacific Koel I don’t think it’s about you DRRON, we have a few on the coast and I hear they are reaching more of Melbourne these days. Was listening to the WBBL from Drummoyne on my drive back from VIC a few weeks ago and heard one on the broadcast. Worlds worst parents.

    China Eastern to fly Sydney-Auckland

MU seem to be happy to cancel flights at random, I much prefer China Southern, and no stern look when I ask for a second beer

    China Eastern to fly Sydney-Auckland

MU don’t use the same GDS as Qantas so your QFF number will never result in the booking showing in the APP. I have done one trip this year with MU, in Y, never again
