Autumn colours in Japan + coughtails by the pool in Fiji

We were also in Kanazawa in cherry blossom time this year. We really lucked out being in Kenrokuen at peak viewing time. Loved Kanazawa and have had several visits there.

    Jetstar business class menu

Well we are doing a flight to Europe next year for a cruise. booked the cruise 310 days out. wanted some time in the UK. Naturally at about 300 days out there was virtually no J awards. But there were 2 on a JQ flight 3 days before our preferred day. So we reluctantly ( ) decided to spend 3...

Proposed Social Media ban for under-16 kids

Since this has hit the airwaves I have had 4 surveys on social media. Three from Australian Unis and 1 from NZ. I can say they don't want the opinion of a 77 year old male.

    Birds of a feather

The grey butcher bird has lost her fear so comes and sits besides us and talking a lot more. We do feed her a little mince when having afternoon drinks. The young one though will come and pick up every piece on the plate. When he returns mum gives him a good scolding. Doesn't take that much...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

And from that article possible explanation as to why VA is changing Velocity. But a hint of hypocrisy in QF's submission.

Award seats on BA using QFF points

I have been sending all my OW flights to BAEC. however I will not requalify gold next year as I now need to redem my points and will not be travelling as much. So at the moment iy is back to AA as good award availability on routes we fly for less points and less money than BA or QFF. And I am...

How many layers of middlemen have you experienced?

You probably are paying too much. Times rental car is a Japanese rental car provider. They are everywhere as are many of the Japanese firms such as Toyota and Nissan. The problem is they will only rent you a car in the next 3 months so if you put in dates more than 3 months out you will get the...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

But the QF objection mentions both pilots and crew. The Qantas group certainly uses foreign based cabin crew. So the flights would be OK with QF if the had VA pilots and Qatari cabin crew. Or would using QR pilots who live in Australia be OK with QF?

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

I've only been to the VA lounge in SYD once 3 weeks ago. The red was Hardys the Riddle cabernet/merlot. decent enough wine.

    Good use of points? NRT-TPE-MEL

If I am happy to redeem I just redeem. Normally know where I want to fly and if the date and cabin are OK I pounce. heck on a trip next August booked a September cruise from Southampton. at the time virtually all premium awards out of Australi were gone. The only choice within a few days of our...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

It certainly isn't impacting travel to Europe with awards. Business awards still available on both SQ and QR throughout September 25 and today for 1/10/25. On EY only Y awards but available every day leading up to and including 1/10/25. Will be interesting to see what's available tomorrow for...

    AFR's Joe Aston goes BAM!

But the AFR first published this story over a year ago. There was more detail and here is some. That is despite VA having ~ 10 flights a day CBR - SYD. But just maybe this is the reason they prefer QF. Maybe it's time VA opened another Beyond lounge? Things are a bit different in some...
