How to avoid huge tourist overcrowded destinations?

Venice is surprisingly polarising! So many seem to hate it, we enjoyed ourselves! Admittedly over 20 years ago it might not have been as busy ... dunno how you can see it all in a couple of hours though, it takes that (or more?) just to walk from one end to the other without stopping to look...

Transit Sydney terminal - QANTAS Or TBus

I predict she'll have the instructions firmly in hand, she'll be all rush-hurry, the bags will come out no probs, they'll hurriedly get to the bus & get there just in time to miss it, they'll run down to the train & catch that, they'll rush up to the check-in then be waiting impatiently in the...

Transit Sydney terminal - QANTAS Or TBus

It’s not the cheapest option, but the train’s every 6 to 9 minutes at that time of day & it’s a 2 minute trip.

BNE Parking Infringement Notice - what is the status?

You could ask for more info? It’ll probably cost them more than $156 in labour, if you include what they’ve already spent. I borrowed Mum’s yellow 1977 Cressida yeeears ago & went to a shopping centre, weeks later a private company running that car-park sent a fine for parking illegally, I was...

BNE Parking Infringement Notice - what is the status?

How much are they wanting you to pay in return for ignoring the time-limit you knew was relevant when you parked there? Is it disproportionate?

    Virgin airline:never again

Not trying to downplay how nasty that trip was; but I don’t think the alternatives are any better in any way. I’ve been way more delayed with Qantas and Jetstar than with Virgin.

100,000,000 QFF points, or $4,000,000 in cash??

The cash for sure, for me! Even if you put it into a savings account, just the yearly interest would pay for all the business-class travel you'd want to do per year but actually when you wanted to do it. As well as being able to be used for something else.

☕ What's your definition of "good" coffee?

In case you'd like to make Mr Bezos that little bit richer, you can order & get 'em delivered via Amazon (something I'm a bit embarrassed to say I do ... order from Amazon that is, I wouldn't ever be embarrassed about getting Cailly-butt chocolate). Although now I think about it we've kinda...

☕ What's your definition of "good" coffee?

No, it’s just that if you don’t like something then you basically don’t consume it, and the taste of those things is close enough that they actually do all taste the same. I mean, I’m sure @JohnK said it in jest knowing this full well … John, I’m sure there is something(*) you eat or drink...

☕ What's your definition of "good" coffee?

^ I obviously went to all the wrong places in Europe. :( Can understand how/why your experience of a decent cup in Asia being really really hard to find, though. Asian cultures just don’t coffee.

    Business Class: numbers or psychology?

Or see a great deal come up … we only went to NZ in EK F ‘cos there was a massive deal, it was cheaper than QF Y. I didn’t really have a solid plan for cabin-class when hunting for tickets, but we flew CI J to the UK in 2018 ‘cos it was cheaper than QF or SQ Premium Economy (actually I think...

    Business Class: numbers or psychology?

Just adding to these good suggestions … Y is nowhere near as bad during a daylight flight, when the fact you can’t sleep isn’t such a problem & the chances of someone reclining in your face (hence thwarting your ability to read or use the IFE) are lower … and some airlines have daytime flights...

^ South Korea has advanced a lot in the last 3/4-of-a-century, I'm sure they can serve coffee hot there ...:p

What was your pointless work trip?

Most of my wife’s Federal Government Employee business flights were pointless … not statusless, but they were pointless! I say most ‘cos she did have a couple of flights when she first started working there before the FF points-ban thing was introduced.

☕ What's your definition of "good" coffee?

There's a small chain of fancy chocolate shops in Sydney by the name of Adora ... they may have expanded further, we first went to their original shop when we signed up for one of those "foodie" bus tours which take you around places you might not otherwise discover (the tour was lead by Maeve...

☕ What's your definition of "good" coffee?

I would suggest that the caffeine doesn't add any perceptible flavour ... this explains why on blind taste tests, 83.4% of testers couldn't tell the difference between a cup of tea and a cup of hot water (and also why the same percentage of statistics are made up). The odd flavour you get in...

☕ What's your definition of "good" coffee?

I’d never claim a properly-made pod coffee was better than a properly-made barista coffee … but I’ve had plenty of pod coffees made by people trying to make it as well as it can be done which were better than what’s made by a hamfisted barista. I mean … do airport lounges even hire circa-30...

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

You have to be on a QF flight with a QF ticket … even if it’s a code-share … so if you’re on a BA aircraft with BA crew but it’s also QF165, and your ticket is a QF ticket on QF165, then you can use Qantas Club lounges. Note that it’s not all One World lounges … so if Qantas don’t have a lounge...
