    Scams like these

I’ve been getting that Coles points one too, it’s always 3022 points. They’ve obviously not put much effort into considering what the number of points should be, 3022 points in any loyalty scheme is unlikely to be worth more than 3 tissues and a small wad of belly-button lint.

BNE to coughet - Jetstar vs Singapore Airlines

^ Although you have to admit, a place named Barry really should be in Straya and most likely Queensland … … WTF, where does this dodgy shaved Barcelos place get off stealing the BAZ code which needs to be ours?!?!

BNE to coughet - Jetstar vs Singapore Airlines

Indeed, most of the people whipped & beaten & gaoled for stepping on the grass would agree!

Airport security confiscated an empty water bottle

This is because they’re planning on ditching the toilets & selling standing-room for the space where they used to be.

BNE to coughet - Jetstar vs Singapore Airlines

Yeah agreed, seems like a good choice. Although don’t step on the grass while in Singapore, they’ll lock you up for a few years after giving you 80 lashes with the cat o’ nine tails & locking you in the iron maiden.

    Scams like these

I got an odd one today ... it looks like potentially a valid message from the Insurance Commission of WA, although I don't know how to check whether the displayed phone number or URL on an SMS is the actual one which will be called or browsed-to if you follow the link so I can't be sure. It...

Naked man causes Virgin flight to return to Perth

It was obviously the knocking-over of airline staff which got the guy in trouble. I’ve been nekkid under my clothes every time I’ve flown, and never got into this sort of trouble.

    Scams like these

I believe it’s phishing (”fishing” for responses that give away details OR get people tangled-up in data-theft sites), except via SMS … hence smishing. And now for some annoying information which may be helpful to someone, we had a very annoying leak which involved a plumber week-before-last...

Can you take a can of soft drink on a plane?

No one has drunk an energy drink while conscious, at least not without particularly threatening coercion …

Airport security confiscated an empty water bottle

Pretty much a coincidence, yep. The liquids thing happened internationally when a few very grumpy chaps flew a couple of planes’ worth of jet-fuel into some well known skyscrapers, often referred-to as 11/9. Introducing it domestically was always going to be silly, given how silly it was...

Do Australian Border Force officers deliberately provoke passengers?

And the "don't speak English" people are definitely happy now their "no English, no English" protestations have been dissolved .... ? :)

Do Australian Border Force officers deliberately provoke passengers?

It may be an "own citizen" thing, but I've always found the people at the airport who check in my backside for illegal immigrants & smuggled rotting fish to be very much more affable than their equivalents overseas ... going through the same people in Singapore you feel like they're about to...

Do Australian Border Force officers deliberately provoke passengers?

"Madam this is raw meat! You cannot take raw meat past this point, it is being confiscated!" "Madam these eggs are also raw ... I must also confiscate those!" "Madam this milk is also raw & is not allowed!!"

Do Australian Border Force officers deliberately provoke passengers?

I'm pretty sure it was changed to Border Force for just this reason, they thought that by sounding more forceful it'd be taken more seriously.

Is it time for the ACCC to lose its power to veto international JVs?

Qantas only has 2/3 of the market because it’s difficult to start up in the aviation market, and because the government (ie. Australian taxpayers) paid for them to exist until 40-odd years ago. The fact there’s been so little real competition in that time proves how hard it is to enter that...

Is it time for the ACCC to lose its power to veto international JVs?

"The ACCC is toothless, the ACCC doesn't do ANYTHING about supermarket duopolies and how they price-gouge both the customer and the supplier!" "The ACCC is too harsh, they won't allow Qantas to monopolise routes, how cruel!"

Lounge pass from credit card or priority pass?

Cards with lounge access cost a reasonable whack more than those without; you really need to want a lot of the benefits of those cards for them to become cost-effective. I know very little about this stuff, but I’ve only heard of Amex lounges in international terminals, mebbe worth checking or...
