BNE to coughet - Jetstar vs Singapore Airlines

I’m planning a trip to Thailand next year and almost ready to book flights but torn with a decision between redeeming my QFF or Velocity pts.

The decision is between the flights that have just become available with velocity from BNE to coughet for 31,000pts & $217 which will fly Singapore on their A350-900

Or do I wait for the Jetstar flights to become available at 27,900pts & $181 on their B787

I don’t know enough about both planes, although I guess Singapore will be a better experience than Jetstar? Is this assumption correct or is Jetstar’s B787 not too bad?

I've flown both airlines and both airplanes.
Choosing the Singapore option is an absolute no brainer. You are getting a full service airline, consistently voted best in the world, versus a low cost carrier.
Factor in the need to stop in Singapore v direct flight though.

Edit: Oops. Didn't realise that Jetstar isn't direct flight either. So even more a no brainer.

Having just returned on Jetstar on same route Friday I would STRONGLY recommend you flying SQ. Jetstar is a budget airline and cannot be compared to SQ A full service airline. Make sure Qantas covers your meals and baggage on JQ . The dreamliner is a very quite plane but is a 787-8.. Service cannot be compared. Go SQ. enjoy. It's worth the extra. SQ to me is one of the best airlines in the world and you will be comfortable. If you wait you may miss out.

Sick of waiting for the QFF seats to appear (on Jetstar) I booked business class on SQ both ways as I had heaps of velocity points. 67k pts BRI to Singapore and 71k points return from coughet to Brisbane. Spending a few days in Singapore on the way over.

Although don’t step on the grass while in Singapore, they’ll lock you up for a few years after giving you 80 lashes with the cat o’ nine tails & locking you in the iron maiden.

Pedantic: Brisbane is not BRI, that airport code belongs to another airport, that being Bari, in Italy.
Its BNE for Brisbane...!

My wife and I are regulars to flying into coughet and we have stayed in Khao Lak 8 times in last decade with only covid intervening. We have flown Jetstar economy once and business twice for first 3 trips then SQ J cabin the other 5 times all ex Sydney. Not ever a chance we would fly JQ again, tbh I would rather stay home than fly with them again, last trip in their "business cabin" was absolutly appaling, service was non existant and completely dismissive of onboard issues, broken seats, broken in flight entertainment. This is a flop and drop holiday for us and it is solely a laying on the beach and recharging the batteries, the stress of flying JQ was always a dampner on the holiday. SQ J cabin hands down even with the inconvenience of going via Changi for a few hours.

In J, their hard product is not comfortable; it's hard, quite small, lacks storage space and is not that configurable. For some people the hard product on JQ may suit better. It's not straightforward.

Yes, I must agree. I have flown Jetstar Asia once, and I was more impressed with it than the local offerings.

JQ Business is at best a poor PE product (was more apt when it was called StarClass).

But SQ Busines is in a totally different league in quality, but also price.

Yes it is but the SQ regional seats are not that fun either. Look at the design online. Both are not good but SQ will go flat bit it is small and hard. I had a backache on the SIN CNS sector. SQ wins on soft product hands down.

Currently all flights to PER, DRW, CNS, BNE and ADL are regional business plus SQ 247/8 to/from MEL. Easy to work out as no premium economy on those planes.
