Exactly. We don't want too many elite's, but we'll throw out these biannual DSC offers to get more bookings & in turn increasing elites. At least with Family Pooling, your paying for each seat & each SC, $$ to VA/Bain, DSC very different, gifting status! Glad it's not just me seeing this...

I suppose in your individual case, if you still manage 800SC, then continue on for a few years to Forever Gold if that's achievable & your plan. Then you have a comfort level. It's a good thing that VA have finally added this Life Time benefit. The magnet handcuffs that it's known as. Key...

And they believe (hope) all the Platinums that can't up the spending to retain WP will just lower their status to become Goldies.....but some may well become disenchanted & opt for BFOD & in turn direct good portion of their flying budget away from VA altogether. EcoX is a lovely perk of WP...

Velocity introduces Forever Gold lifetime status tier

So SC earned via you flying should count regardless if pooled out. Strictly you flew, you earned them...what happens after that in them being pooled out is irelevant? No? But then they'd count twice, once for you, once in another's 3000 bracket. Bit messy, but would that be correct?

so 17635 +960-4600-7400 =6,595 + a few FB's etc, still few years to go. The pooling in & out will catch a few out.

Yeah no peak times for me anymore, hence not seeing this sardines scenario. I remember being knock back years ago in Syd lounge in peak as silver cos was full. Ool trips great cash value, just not if chasing status. $319 amazing price. Could say who needs status when paying that price!

I haven't seen a VA lounge anywhere in last few years "packed to the rafters". Always mostly full, but never had trouble finding basically my fav seat each & every time. Never seen a line to enter like I did pre-covid. Mind you I'm never there Mon-Fri peak times anymore.

Maybe. But then I'd say these fares are few & far between and if so also just lift the fares to $600 or so. It's all in full control of VA to determine the fares.

There's $403 J cabin MEL-OOL Currently an 80 SC trip. Soon to be a 33 SC trip. If VA management listened to it's customers, I'm sure they didn't ask them what they think of dynamic pricing & listed few examples, like the above. Oh could list some Flex fares examples too which are rarely purchased.

As I stated up thread. I'll just use the 3 carriers we have here with BFOD. Simple.

I would say if you hit status by following the airline rules of accuring enough SC, sectors then using benefits that airline provides is a fare deal and for the airline or airline owner in this instance your not the target, well that just seems ordinary business plan. Change the rules, as they...

I've resigned myself as a VA Simpler & Fairer casualty. Today I cancelled 2 separate J cabin DSC bookings for next year. Rebooked as choice fare. I see no point going one more year as WP. If not for changes would've kept pegging away as WP, until FGold. Alas. Already locked in WP till March...

Well VFF were very recently advertising we have Family Pooling blah blah And QF ran a status match for VA status holders. How I received my QF Gold couple years ago.

I'd say someone who flies 8+ sectors a year, hitting 800SC minimum would be considered a frequent flyer & to ditch them & that requirement is playing a tight rope game of the long term benefits. I attain ~1200 per year including couple family trips (family pooling a contributor) + couple...

But every current WP still takes 8 sectors to qualify. I suspect many including myself won't manage with the upto 50% reduction in SC's. They no doubt will lose x number of WP's, quite possibly the aim to reduce number of elites, but in turn losing passengers paying for VA flights, not sure...

US has less competition than Aus, ok, & only a couple airlines serving the market ok, same in Aus, just a couple airlines serving the market. righteo!

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Ok but your point seemingly made in your post was the lack of competition in Aus led to the devaluation. But I see now your saying VA cheap status compared to QF. WP still required 8 sectors to be flown. I read many QF WPs attain their status during DSC promos with less than 8 QF sectors...

    Qantas Wine latest offering

    I purchased the 24k point bundle of red for $498 - PC+ 10% so paid $450. Not bad for reasonable reds & 24k points. That's PC+ secured for 2025.

USA have these devaluations yet have plenty competition. So not an Australian thing at all.

So now you need to work it out yourself. Total fare cost by 12. Previously you see the SC earn when booking, it's there when booking. And if you missed it or want to recheck, there's a table to refer to. I wouldn't call it simpler and certainly not fairer unless fair stipulates less SCs per...
