Air NZ looking to sell some/all of stake in VA

NZ didn't screw AN over, News Corp and TNT did. They pretty much stripped the company of worth, then let NZ buy it. I still maintain to this day if SQ had bought in, AN would be here still and the aviation landscape would be very very different. NZ had first right of refusal to buy the...

Help needed with Acronyms in AFF

People often sign-up on a forum, and forget about it, only to re-visit it years later (i've done this on car forums). Length of tenure does not necessarily mean they've been loitering around here to learn our strange language ;)

    Boeing Factory tours - Seattle

I actually booked myself a ticket for a tour next month, just an hour ago before reading this. I've done the tour before, and have been lucky enough to have toured the 737 assembly plant too (not open to public tours). If you have enough time, be sure to head down to The Museum of Flight down...

    AA's SYD-LAX flight

I'm on it in a few weeks. I selected it as I find Skybed II terrible. I love the CX J seats (but hate their lack of a/c vent so AA has that). I never rated QF's food offering in J personally, but having flown AA extensively within the USA and to LHR from JFK a few times, i'm prepared for average...

    RIP AA Award Program

Re: RIP AA Award Progaram Yup. Takes you to the USA site. I find what I want, copy the item number in the URL to the notepad, then go to the eshopping portal, which re-directs to the USA eBay. Enter the item number in the search box, and complete the purchase (not tried it bidding, I typically...

    RIP AA Award Program

Re: RIP AA Award Progaram Amex Platinum Edge earns up to 3 MR points per dollar. MR transfers to SPG. SPG washed to AA with 5k bonus. You can actually get 1.5 AA points per dollar (if you shop at the grocery store a lot). Buying on eBay earns 1 AA mile per dollar. Not being in the USA does...

    RIP AA Award Program

Re: RIP AA Award Progaram Me Three. The amount of 'oh woe is me! AA is falling!' around is absolutely annoying. It still leaves QF for dead. Don't like AA? Feel free to move to DL. Then you'll know how good AA is :P

Maybe it's a VIC offer. All the stores I regularly go to have it for that price.

If anyone wants the PJ Grand Brut, it's $54.95 in any six at Dan's at the moment ;) https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_139112/perrier-jou-t-grand-brut

AA redemption, can see but can not select

Not sure if it was an isolated incident, but when I was booking my AA award on QF F ex LHR, I tacked on another Euro destination so it was say DUB-LHR-DXB-SYD. The phantom availability seemed to go, only showing what was there (and matching EF). Even if you don't want to leave from DUB (or AMS...

Disruption caused by strike of immigration staff - 24th March

I had this misfortune of coming in back through BNE during the last round of strikes. If that's anything to go by, they'll turn the smartgates off too. (I believe outbound there was also off). They're making a statement. I'll reserve my opinion to non-public places:)

Late check out [from Hotels near] LAX [Dayrooms?]

If you have Gold or Diamond they will usually push it to 7 or 8pm. The Hilton used to be cheap too (Around $80USD for a day rate) but recent evidence suggests it's now over $100 plus taxes etc :(

SkyBus gone up again [Up to $23.90 one way]

Annoying. I guess if there's no Uber X drivers near the airport the drag-the-pin-elsewhere trick won't do much good. Until MEL sorts their cough out and legalises Uber, it's a gamble. Still, I refuse to support Skybus :)

Bonus 3000 Velocity Points with Amex-issued card

Amex (and indeed most credit card companies) know more than you'd ever think. Amex has told me 'no need to call us when you travel overseas, we already know'. They know I book my flight on the card, they can then find out where i'm actually going too. Big Data is scary. There's other experts...

Late check out [from Hotels near] LAX [Dayrooms?]

Hilton definitely does. Just search for the same day departure as check-in on the website and it'll specifically list the day-rate. I think Westin does too. I'd be headed to the In n Out in Westchest personally (around a $4-5 Uber each way or a 20ish minute walk) and watch some planes land with...

SkyBus gone up again [Up to $23.90 one way]

If you have two people, Uber X is now much more attractive (effectively the same price when traffic is good) and it's to the door as well, on the departure level :)

Is paying to join Costco worth it?

Re: Costco - Products, Prices and Deals Just to negate most of the previous page, you know you don't have to pay the first visit if you simply wish to look around? Go to the service desk, ask for a sign up form but mention you'd like to take a look around before you sign up. You obviously won't...

    Credit Card Approval

There are many low-income cards. According to one website, $15k is all it takes for the Coles one: Coles No Annual Fee MasterCard | Compare, Review & Apply I'm sure you'd probably only get a $500 credit limit or something though at that level of income. Banks will process on either pre or...

QF Vs VA Premium Economy to LAX

Us WP's and SG's have to have something over the PS's ;) Seriously though, there's even less of a differentiation between SG and WP on VA than there is on QF.
