Noticed that acronyms and abbreviations are used alot in AFF. In one thread alone, I've noticed the following abbreviations being used:
- YMMV, LTG. WP, SR, SG, P1, CLPO, FWIW, CSM, CSS, HLO.
Being a novice in this game, can someone point me to anywhere in AFF where such acronyms are defined.
The thread that
Hvr linked should explain most of the abbreviations used on AFF.
This is what the abbreviations you've pointed out mean:
-YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary - in other words, you may or may not experience the same result
-LTG: LifeTime Gold (status with Qantas)
-WP: Platinum frequent flyer status
-SR: Status run - a flight/s taken in order to earn some extra status credits
-SG: Gold frequent flyer status
-P1: Qantas Platinum One frequent flyer status (Qantas' highest status level)
-CLPO: I'm going to assume that this one means "Chairmans Lounge/Platinum One" - a very "elite" Qantas frequent flyer who has Platinum One status, as well as membership of Qantas' invitation-only Chairmans Lounge
-FWIW: For What It's Worth
CSM: Customer Service Manager (aka. the purser)
CSS: Customer Service Supervisor - the 2nd in charge (after the CSM) of the cabin crew on a flight
HLO: Hand Luggage Only
Here's a couple more of the most common ones:
PS: Silver frequent flyer status
HUACA: Hang Up And Call Again (what to do when you get a lazy/unhelpful call centre agent)
J: Business class
Y: Economy class
If you're viewing AFF on a computer, you may also notice that some abbreviations (including several of the ones you've listed) are faintly underlined. If you see that, hover the mouse over the abbreviation and it will explain the meaning.
Hope that helps, and feel free to keep asking questions if you need anything clarified!
