Rang up and ordered a metal card today. Will arrive in 3-5 business days !
Usually when I have a credit card, my wallet ends up figuratively lighter after spending my hard earned, with the metal card though, my wallet will literally be heavier :D
Hmm interesting, I paid my annual fee back in March but have enrolled/applied online for both Accor Plus and the AFR subscription. Will see if I actually get it.
Bit annoying that the new metallic card will come with a new number rather than just your existing card number, I guess that's a security issue where they wouldn't want 2 identical cards floating around. But it means I need to change direct debits and as I booked some airfares with my existing...
Yeh SPG transfers gave best bang for buck for me, but transferring MR 1:1 to SQ/CX seems so comparatively poor value :(
I wonder if this was an Amex instigated devaluation or a Marriott instigated one (i.e. Marriott asking for more $ per point from Amex)? Probably a combination of the two...
Well, the transfer ratio has been trashed; 3 Amex MR = 2 Marriott points
Revised American Express points transfers rate for SPG, Marriott
The old ratio was 2 Amex MR = 3 Marriott points (1 starpoint)
Bugger !
So I just got a letter today saying Amex and Chartered Accountants (CA) will end their partnership effective 30 June 2018.
My existing card (Platinum Charge) will stay remain active and will retain its existing benefits/features. It will be interesting to see whether I will still get the...
I've used about $1,500 of AMEX travel credits (across 2 cards) in the last 2 years and have always found amex to be on par with the likes of Expedia et al. My only complaint is that they don't offer LCC flights nor do they have options to a number of full service carriers.
Short answer is no. Only Platinum Charge and Centurion Card holders have access. Prevously other non-platinum/centurion amex card holders could purchase access for $50, but this has been discontinued due to overcrowding issues.
Thanks for the report, looking forward to the rest of it. I'm also flying SYD-ICN-IST on OZ and TK in December (although through to LHR), so keen to see your experience. You're flying a bit too early to try OZ's A380 which they're bringing onto SYD-ICN in December. I think they currently use 772's?
They do have the ability to claw back points, just because you move the points out doesn't mean the end of the story. I'm sure they have a record of the retention phone call and cancelling the card so soon after is asking for trouble. Anyway let us know how you go.
For those calling to cancel and getting bonus points, do you hold multiple amex cards/products? Would I have any luck getting points if I call to cancel my edge but at the same time still have my platinum?
What has everyone else's experience with bonus sign up points being credited to their account been like?
I received my the charge card 6 weeks ago and met the qualifying spend within the 1st week week but still no points. I gave Amex a call and the operator just said points are usually...
Is the 200k limit for each person or does the 200k apply to each different card you have (e.g Charge vs Edge).
Also is the 200k limit a calendar year limit or a rolling 12 month limit?
Cheers
Has anyone got the Platinum Charge Card with a Professional Association (CA/CPA/EA etc) ever got the points signup bonus whilst holding another Amex Card? From an updated post on Point Hacks today (sorry as I am new can't post links), it looks though you will now no longer be eligible for the...
I don't anything has changed, perhaps the operator got the cards mixed up. Wouldn't make sense for them to provide a card which has a higher earn rate than the Platinum. The Reserve had the exact same earn rate.
