O Tannenbaum - A tour of German Christmas Markets and other spots

You seem to have been pretty cautious and left adequate time between the connections - as long as the system doesn't fall over in a big way but then nothing could be done anyway. We had plenty of trouble around Stuttgart as there were lots of rail works in that area including the infamous...

Case Study: How Matt books flights to Europe

Though not as interesting as some of Matt's exploits we do try to get to S.E Asia, usually Singapore, as cheaply as possible and then travel J class onwards to Europe. For example on our trip to the German Christmas Markets last year we flew Perth to Singapore in QF Y Exit Row seats and then...

Is the Australian Landing Card Still Necessary in the Written Form?

I have just entered the 'departure area' at Terminal 1 Changi and found the process no better than Perth. I still had to use my passport and give a thumb print. The main problem l have is how low the camera is. I was just about kneeling to get my face into the right area.

    Malaysian digital arrival card info.

It was pretty easy to lodge ours for our bus trip Singapore/Malacca last week There are less fields to fill in than the Singapore one However, as far as I can see, there has to be a new application for each person. I couldn't find any option to set up somebody as the 'travel group leader' like...

Exit Row - Definition of “Willing and Able”

Are there different procedures if the exit row has a crewmember seated opposite? We have been in the exit row for at least 4 SQ flights and 2 QFi flights. All we have ever been asked was if we enjoyed our holidays or where we were heading for our holidays.

    The view from my "office"

It was all sealed tight. We have been inside the house in 2003 during a family reunion and it was lovely. These days it is a 'memorial house' to the person who the street is now named after - Tun Tan Cheng Lock. He was a major force in the Malaysian independence movement. The house has been in...

What I ate today - the food thread

We only had a simple meal in a Foodcourt last night that was nothing special. Todays was fine but not special Not helped by the arrival of a noisy Chinese tour group into the small cafe halfway through our meal. I have just had a swim at the hotel and am now lying down munching on some...

Booked into the Moty Hotel in central Malacca. In a "Premium Room". It is a symphony of shiny plastic wood. And we not only get a view of parked cars and buses but an overpass as well. But at least a separate shower. A$106 per night including breakfast.
