UN committee supports right to return home for Australian Citizens

👍 @mviy - I support all strong measures to make home quarantine an alternative for vaccinated travellers - such as tech devices to monitor movements (eg Singapore), a refundable bond equivalent to costs of hotel quarantine, removal / cancellation of passports and longer quaratine period if...

The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

A distant relative (over 65) works in aged care said since the jab is not compulsory, they will not take it. Hubby said if there are a lot of people not taking the jabs, herd immunity will not be achieved and the government will not re-open the borders making it difficult for us to get home :(

Travelling to Australia During COVID-19 (Discussion)

Thanks for clarifying that madrooster. Just read a blog today which said the US (Biden) is considering lifting travel restrictions (inbound) from the UK and EU around mid-May. So, if this does happen, then we can fly from UK to US onto AU - opening up another route.

Travelling to Australia During COVID-19 (Discussion)

@madrooster - UK has added Qatar to the redlist - banning flights from Qatar from 19th March 2021. How do you see this will impact pax from UK to AU via Doha with QR? Apparently there is speculation that QR will fly to UK with no pax, only cargo, but able to take pax from UK to Doha - hence no...

    Friendships via AFF

News here said the UK has got more vaccine supplies so we keep our fingers crossed that we may get our 2nd dose earlier than 12 weeks delay for Pfizer. Apparently in Canada it is 16 weeks between doses for Pfizer. New cases in the UK are coming down but still over 4,500 daily :( We keep fingers...

    Friendships via AFF

Yes! Hubby has retired, so our time in London is coming to an end. Although we can stay here but our home is really Sydney. And, we need to return home to sort out issues with our tax and financial affairs. We are trying to head back home this year - waiting for some good news from the...

    General COVID-19 Vaccine Discussion

@Pushka - there is a thread in flyertalk written by c-w-s about "what if you have a phobia against needle injections?". Worth reading for people like your son (as well as me and some of my relatives). Here is the link - Coronavirus / COVID-19 : general fact-based reporting - FlyerTalk Forums...

    Friendships via AFF

So lovely to read how some AFFers have met and developed friendships with other AFFers. It is a small world. Hope to increase our AFF friendship circle after we are back in Oz.

    Friendships via AFF

We have formed friendships through many walks of life – eg schools / universities, neighbours, work, church, friends of friends, and through AFF! As we are waiting and planning for our trip home later this year (fingers and toes crossed tightly), I often wonder how interesting these friendships...

    Vaccine - Booked in (UK)

That's what i have read as well - side effects are an indication that the vaccine is working and producing antibodies (article in the New Scientist). A year ago I had the flu vaccine (never had one before) and I was sick with aches / pains and tiredness for 2 days :(

    Vaccine - Booked in (UK)

Update: hubby had his 1st dose of vaccine yesterday, and I had mine over an hour ago. Both of us had the Pfizer - they told us, and gave us a card each showing when the 1st dose was administered, and space for the 2nd dose later. The cards also show that the vaccine was Pfizer and batch...

    Vaccine - Booked in (UK)

Not sure which one, but will find out and report back. A lady at Church had it last month said she got the Pfizer - they told her when she got the jab. Fingers crossed tightly for flights home ...

    Vaccine - Booked in (UK)

After the vaccine, we will scramble for flights back home (Sydney). By our calculation, we should be fully vaccinated by mid-May. We will start looking for flights from June onwards. We have moved out of rental flat, and are staying at a ultra luxury flat of a forum member (a few of you can...

    Vaccine - Booked in (UK)

Our local GP clinic here in London has called us to make appointments for the 1st dose jab. So hubby is having his this Thursday and I will have mine this Friday - both at a health centre (not local GP clinic). They said the 2nd dose will be 12 weeks later. Hope Australia will start vaccines soon.

General Coronavirus chit chat thread - non-travel specific

The minder for our little dog lost her husband last December due to cancer. She was lonely so went to her daughter's place for Christmas. A friend of her daughter's family was there, tested positive. Daughter and son in law both in bed for 3 days, then daughter rushed to ICU, put on...
