    On Australian airlines the window shades must be raised during takeoff and landing. I have noticed that particularly in USA the shades are more often than not lowered to keep the sun out during these phases. Is there some international protocol or are we just being locally difficult?

    I used a domestic level HP printer/scanner and had no trouble on new type passports.

    At one stage in EU I had to use webmail to access my mail a couple of years ago. I assume that Telstra are blocking the traffic as a security measure. Good but B inconvenient at times.

    I find that my bigpond mail arrives on my I devices (3 running) but cannot send. have to use a secondary gmail account to respond/reply to incoming bigpond. Been like it for some years. EU, Japan, Canada, US. Running telstra network accounts.

    Travelling Quebec to Montreal by train for a change of scenery. A choice of 3 mains, a side salad and a side cake desert for lunch. Choice of wines and spirits. . Can we sponsor Neil Perry on to a similar journey and show him how it can be done.

    The weather in Barcelona in winter is similar to that in Melbourne in winter. Not balmy but not freezing. We were in Barcelona for Christmas a few years ago and then Madrid for new year. Both cities were enjoyable.
