Westpac increasing all credit card annual fees on 15/6/23

No reason for anyone to pay the full fee when it's generously lowered for "existing customers". Just open a free savings account and apply from inside the netbank. I think my first year fee for Westpack Velocity Black is $150

    Recent Westpac Credit Card Application

I was approved for Westpac Velocity Black yesterday, I didn't run across this screen. Must be intermittent

Declined for Citi Premier - how long before I can reapply

Westpac approved me for twice the credit limit today, go figure. Citi doesn't like me, clearly

    What cheeses me off

Ugh, someone moved into my nice quiet little street in Newcastle and they drive a massive Shelby truck/ute monstrosity. It belongs in Texas.

Declined for Citi Premier - how long before I can reapply

Yeah I was surprised too. I don't think I've ever missed a payment so it's not that. Could be time spent at my current employer but that seems a bit harsh. One or my debts is the remainder of my secured car loan but it's less than $10k. I couldn't select "secured", the only only option is...

Declined for Citi Premier - how long before I can reapply

I applied for my first Citi card (other than Citi operated Virgin Money) and was declined automatically upon application submission. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendation on how long I should wait before reapplying for a Citi card. No idea why I'm declined. I'm near the top tax...

Wife's Velocity name on ticket as 'Mr' instead of Mrs - changing with QR

I accidentally booked my sister as Mr, booking with Qatar through Virgin Australia. I called them up and they said it shouldn't matter. I call her Mister Sister now, though, so I got something out of it

    Has flying J ruined you?

Sturgeon is a white fish? Worth the gamble at 38,000ft 😂

How long is too long in the (F) Lounge?

I'm a bit late here, but that's almost enough time for two Lord of the Rings movies or approximately 20 episodes of Arrested Development, so that's probably what I would do in the flounge

    Has flying J ruined you?

Good on Gordon for enforcing that! But my little guy is still to young to sit by himself. We're trying for another kid at the moment so the premium cabin flying will come to a halt eventually due to cost and lack of award seats. Good luck!

    Has flying J ruined you?

I worry about my kid having never experienced long haul economy. He's growing up thinking business class is the norm. In a few years when he's tall enough to suffer, I'll book us some Y seats SYD-DXB-LHR so he gets to experience it 🙂

Rex launches its own frequent flyer program (in October 2023)

I just received an email from Rex saying they have some exciting news, and also I have a new member number 🤔

I don't see Flybuys mentioned on the linked page 🤔 Bonus still applies?

Infant booking on International Classic reward

Just as @sudoer pointed out, infants travel for free if they're in your lap but taxes/fees are occasionally charged based on carrier. My partner and I traveled round the world last year in business using only Qantas classic rewards. We flew QF and AY (Finnair). On our SIN-HEL flight we paid no...

Rooted Android phone and financial apps

Not me personally, but several friends have been asked to do it by the TSA at both coasts of the USA Maybe, maybe not, but I have a fundamental issue with the "if you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to hide" argument

Rooted Android phone and financial apps

Several reasons. The one most relevant to this forum is ability to dual boot. I don't like the idea that airport security can force me to unlock my phone or refuse my entry if I don't. So I can have a different boot option and load a fake OS.

Churning - when the golden goose stops laying

The main shortcoming of all these churning strategies is dealing with refunds to cancelled credit cards. I've bumped up against that 3 times, and, depending on the financial institutions, they can be really annoying to deal with. ANZ was easy but then sent a physical check that I had to cash...

Churning - when the golden goose stops laying

You raise a good point! I removed several columns for the purpose of the screenshot. I do keep a records of the fees, CPP, as well as a copy-paste of what I put as running expenses as I can never be bothered working it out every time

Churning - when the golden goose stops laying

I've yet to be refused except for one where I put in bad information by accident and I've been churning quite a bit since late 2019. Back when I began I had just started earning 6 figures, I'm now well above where I was then. Here's a (dates modified) chart of my churning. I'm missing a card...

Rooted Android phone and financial apps

This is a question for my fellow tech nerds. I normally root my phones, but my newest phone, a Samsung Galaxy, has Knox which will permanently trip the "phone is rooted" flag in the chipset itself. It's irreversible. I've heard some financial apps will not work on rooted devices, just wondering...
