Book a flight and Extend Current status to 2022

Could QF have made it any more complicated? Wonder why QF made no effort to tie-in their Loyalty revenue with status extensions? The bank-point gravy train is SLOWING......in 12-18months from now, those volumes could dip below what's required to run Loyalty a profit. Linking those points to...

Qantas to launch in-depth partnership with Accor ALL

Looks more like an MOU than any type of partnership announcement. Lots of empty buzzwords in that press release, which, is basically saying there will be a future press release to announce actual details. My money is on the tie-up being some type of marketing gimmick. Eg: To double-dip, you...

Sewage testing detects COVID-19 on Qantas DEL-DRW repatriation flight

When Governments are pouring cash into anything with a 'Covid' stamp on it - there's bound to be these opportunistic studies. I'm sure we'll see a startup do 'mass air testing' in cities, or a car manufacturer do in car air testing or heck, maybe even masks that change colour if it detects...

Qantas extends current status Until at least March 2021

Job keeper, status keeper... same game different name. They incentivize you to do nothing at all!! Let me share the one golden reason why Qantas, Virgin and every other airline will continue to extend status for everyone. If the airlines DON'T extend status - a competing airline will offer a...

Retaining Gold Status when there is no flying due to COVID?

Stay calm folks. Forget about your status credits. Nobody is dropping in status. The world will once again open up and you'll have equal or higher status than when this giant mess started. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.

No more EK F on Alaska points - Will this affect QF too?

EK doesn't allow F redemptions to all their partners. For example, Malaysia Airlines which has a similar partnership with EK as QF -- no F redemptions. Looks to me it's more of a bye-bye Alaska, more than 'no more partner F seats'. Could also be a contractual issue between AS and EK. Remember...

No more EK F on Alaska points - Will this affect QF too?

Note the timing. Alaska joins oneworld the same day.

What's the point? [VA fares > 50% more than Jetstar]

One thing I've learned with loyalty programs is that what looks good on the whiteboard does not necessarily work in the real world. Loyalty programs are 70% art, 30% science/business. Bain could easily pump up the Velocity value well into the billions - but they'd be smart enough to put the...

What's the point? [VA fares > 50% more than Jetstar]

The value of Velocity is intrinsically linked to VA maintaining the network and airline partnerships. Qantas Loyalty profits down 10% in FY 2020. Velocity is down 30% FY 2020. That should tell us something about consumer confidence in each airline/program. The Qatar status match effectively...

What's the point? [VA fares > 50% more than Jetstar]

The Velocity playbook is old and outdated. They're wasting ammunition on campaigns like this when they could have focused on things which Qantas can't copy, and gone after the big $$$ with the banks. But no - same old campaigns. Only a matter of time before Tiger2 is gone.

Up to 40% Velocity transfer bonus - November 2020

By shutting down VA->SQ transfers, Velocity is fundamentally admitting that Velocity points are not as desirable as Krisflyer. SQ is very stable, backed with $10B of Government cash. Velocity is a thing of the past IMO.

Up to 40% Velocity transfer bonus - November 2020

BUYER BEWARE Unless you have the need to redeem Velocity points for an immediate flight/redemption - I would STAY AWAY from this offer.

Value of Virgin's Velocity axed in report

Think about how much-deferred revenue (points liability) sits on the balance sheet. Think about how much the program would be worth if Virgin the airline didn't exist (aka no key tenant to buy points). Think about how many people would NOT want Velocity points if the airline partnerships...

What was your best or worst birthday while travelling?

SYD-MEL Jetstar flight with ~30 AFFers, spontaneously start singing happy birthday to me mid-flight. Fun times :)

Credit card surcharges with no alternative payment option?

Perhaps someone else can chime in on the legality of forcing surcharges, however, in my neck of the woods - businesses that have 'no cash' signs actually do accept cash, it's just that you won't receive any change so exact amount is required for payment.

    Digital Passenger Declaration

It's so sad to see Australia destroy itself with this nonsense. This is obviously a precursor for mandating vaccines to go through the borders. Australia could easily ditch the paper forms like almost every country in the world. Strange timing don't you think?

    Future Flight Credits

Do you trust an airline that continues to change the goalposts while they hold your money? How long until Velocity is gutted? [Who is running it?] Get out while you can, folks!

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Read back through this thread you'll see members talking about dumping Velocity points months ago. The ship has sailed my friend. At this point, if you can redeem for ANYTHING OF VALUE, I'd take it.

100% bonus on Velocity points purchases until 13/11/20

Hard pass. Buyer beware. Velocity is late to the party. They needed to run this 8 months ago. Kind of feels like Velocity has lost direction this year even before the border closures.
