Anyone stayed at Cairns Hilton recently? I'm there at the moment on an extended stay and the experience has been varied, to say the least. I don't want to single out anyone for criticism but some of the F and B service right through the hotel (Mondo's, Signature, and the EL) has been very poor...

It may have changed by now and certainly by the time you get to Adelaide but the lounge was closed when I was there a month or so ago. Maybe someone can update? If the arrangements of canapes in the downstairs bar still apply I would certainly not be paying more for access.

The only real attraction for me of the Hilton, apart from its slightly better central location, is the staff and management of the executive lounge. I don't know if the lounge is open now but, if it isn't, I'd pick the Sofitel.

I know I'm an infrequent flyer now as I have ,for the first time in 30 years, absolutely no flights booked and I also have no FF points in the kitty as I'm waiting for QF to refund them for all my cancelled bookings.

I tried to use it a few weeks ago. However, there were a significant lesser number of options available on the day I wanted than if I rebooked. Problem of course is that I'm still waiting for the fee refund!

Early last week I booked J MEL-CNS QF702 in mid-July using QF points with a wide choice of dates.

The drinks vouchers can be used for barista coffee in the morning or during the day. As we somehow managed to get a double supply of vouchers, the only time we paid for morning coffee was when we forget to bring them down.
