Anyone want to buy an old Convair 580?

I like the way they are hoping for an interesting home for the old bird. I think it a shame the undercarriage is not included...

    RTW award flights itinerary questions

Only longhaul in C back in the good old days of US Airways miles redemptions.... (Sniff....:() HOWEVER...given what "Euro-Business" is like on virtually all airlines, and the relatively short flights you are doing.... I'd suggest its not a GREAT loss to be in Y.... EDIT: Just checked the seat...

PR MEL/SYD - LHR in J return $4999; one way $2999, plus Asia from $549 in Y return

Just booked my first PR flights SYD-MNL-SYD. (In Y to stay with travel companions...sigh Would like to have tried their Y+) Was SOOO glad that it has changed to a widebody. Total cost WITH exit rows paid for was slightly more than base QF fare.... Interesting baggage allowance...25 kilos.

    Searching AA - depart/return issues

I usually get this error because the system seems to put in the date in Australian format (D/M/Y)...but then searches in US format... (M/D/Y)...I just change it manually..

Are Expedia and booking.com Gouging Customers

Why not? Is it because she doesn't want to lose online visibility they provide? Well.. Im sorry... but its a bit much to want the benefits of signing up with these OBA's while coughing about the costs...surely? Perhaps Aussie hotels/motels should try to band together and produce their OWN...

Air NZ to permit staff to show visible tattoos

For those who don't want to interact with well..ANYone with tattoos... How can you tell? A person could be tattooed to near totality...with just the hands neck and face untouched...and in normal clothes you would never know... Can you "sense" when someone has their torso tattooed UNDER a...

Air NZ to permit staff to show visible tattoos

I would agree with AviationNZ. It may well be quite inapropriate for , say, an Asian airline to go this way. For an airline with such a large Polynesian customer base (and employee base) I think its an entirely suitable concession to make. I have to say too that I think anyone who...

Why do airlines still mislay 25 million bags a year?

What % of bags go missing? What % of spacecraft/space missions have had failures?

    Collecting luggage for ongoing flight?

Not exactly sure what you mean... but as there is no "transit" as we know it at LAX you WILL need to pick your bags up, and clear Customs/Immigration. Given it is one ticket the bags should be TAGGED all the way..which will allow you to hand them over at the bag drop facility just outside...

    Worst cabin announcement

Weight and balance is SOO important in the small aircraft... :) As to the pilot wearing a parachute? Absolutely standard when flying jumpers. One famous incident (famous in the skydiving world anyway) was an accidental main parachute opening as a jumper was climbing out. Canopy went over the...

Pax kicked off Air NZ flight for ignoring safety briefing

There are MANY more types of people around who could "reasonably be of help". In any case I'd be quite happy to pay for an exit row seat KNOWING that I would be checked out some time between check in and departure to confirm suitability. Paying for, and being required to be suitability...

Is calling USA airports "dehumanishing" fair?

And OTHER Asian airports make you long for the TBIT BEFORE the refurb...like MNL!!! Bloody awful experience there from start to finish. Transiting in China...well.... And transiting BOM? We had 3 HOURS between flights...we weren't even ENTERING the country...and the bureaucratic BS was...

    Narky QF gate staff

Why the attitude? OK..I'll take a guess.... perhaps the "narky QF gate staffer" was unaware of the bottleneck...and assumed you were lollygagging? As I said... that's a guess... (You asked! lol)

    Best in-flight meal you've received?

In J on TK. BKK-IST/IST-GRU on that awesome mistake fare some years ago...:) The crews (which I had heard could be really variable) were VERY good...and so was the food. The trolley service was a first for me too..... OK.. perhaps not the "best meal"..but certainly the most memorable...

Who Should Bear the Cost of Cancelling Brunei Flights?

Just as much danger for a hetero unmarried couple according to that announcement. "Hetero extra-marital sex" being the second offence listed for death by stoning. Looks like everyone should boycott the place, other than married hetero couples????....
