I'm in the infamous AKL INT F lounge until 3:45 pm. Don't raise your aspirations. Catering is essentially the same as the J lounge. The barista is in the J lounge. Makes a mean capuccino!

Find my NZ passport does that. I have to keep it in a pocket or between books to keep it flat! Usually keep it in a pocket in my laptop office trolley bag so OK. My GO-bag for travelling!

I presume you are referring to the Grand Chancellor in TSV. I stayed there when it was HI and then a couple of times as GC. Good breakfasts now. Not unusual for properties to change hands. Accor and EVT (previously something else) did some swaps and IHG dumped HI in Cairns. Oh Well, so much...

There's a Crowne Plaza in Burwood? IHG have some very selected locations, but no IHG in Townsville, Rockhampton, Cairns or even Darwin. Then again I am staying in the Crowne Plaza in Coogee in a couple of weeks.

I was there on 5 Sept at about 12 pm. Definitely open. Invited to enter at the desk. Also allowed to take a guest; "umble" Silver. No very busy but filled up soon after. I suppose it depends on which flights are leaving. There is a cycle of activity in some lounges depending on departures...

It's to prevent someone carrying a liquid explosive on a plane. 10 x 100 ml is OK. Pastes a well, but baby food seems exempt. Food OK as long as it is solid.

I agree. Last week was good. Almost went back for seconds.

Perhaps it was the isolated location with no one else around? If it had been more crowded the thief might have been more reluctant. I have often left bags, laptop etc, but never wallet or phone. I used to feel secure in lounges!

Definitely a barista guy, but will accept a good machine ground coffee. We have one at work so probably drink too much. Pods not great, but adequate.

Just a note that the upgrades happened while I was in the lounges, so quite near departure. Perhaps waiting to see if J was full or not.

And I thought it was just me! Two weeks ago MEL-ADL and SYD-WLG up to J, all in the same week. I had heard that the SYD-WLG upgrade was because the flight was full because of a cancelled Air NZ flight, but then again perhaps not. Doing WLG-MEL-DRW-ADL-SYD-WLG in two weeks time so fingers...

Sorry if this sounded like a Newbie question, which I wouldn't classify myself as such. I've never had cause to take in a guest on arrival so thanks to all for the clarification and thanks to AFF for providing such a great resource where travellers can share their experiences.
