    2023 Hilton Status Retention

Now my app shows what I need to requalify for diamond… but has changed to “you need 0 to retain gold” so I have no idea anymore 🤷🏻‍♂️

    2023 Hilton Status Retention

Yeah my app now shows I’m dropping from Diamond to Silver in April - not Gold - as I only managed 9 nights in 2022 (though some of those bookings were multiple rooms). Thanks, travel restrictions. Strangely the app says I need 32 nights, 29 stays, OR 40,000 points to go to Gold. Does it mean...

    Lounge Access Help Desk

Yep that's fine, no redemptions earn points or status, just want to ensure we get priority check in and lounge. Alsthough I don't think there's a lounge for SQ we can use at VFF Gold in Amsterdam Schiphol.

    Lounge Access Help Desk

Update - SQ call centre was able to add my wife and kids' Velocity numbers to their bookings, but not to mine, as it was me who did the redemption (for all 4 tickets). Wife is Gold so that's a start and I guess I'll show my Gold VFF card on my phone at check in to get to use the priority...

    Platinum One people - what’s your job/business?

I travel and get no points for it because as a government employee I’m not permitted to. My job doesn’t exist outside the government, either. There are way bigger things affecting careers than travel benefits. I’m also approaching 25 years in the workforce and recognise that I value my family...

    Platinum One people - what’s your job/business?

Many people don't work for companies at all - the largest employers in Australia aren't companies - so I guess it's a moot point.

    Platinum One people - what’s your job/business?

Check your employer's policy. In many cases, the points earned go to the company, and it's the company which can use them to pay for further employee flights. In lots of cases, the individual doesn't get them.

    Platinum One people - what’s your job/business?

In NSW, government employees aren't allowed to accrue FF points or SC when flying for work. But ministers are. Apparently they're a "perk" and it is therefore banned - we should be happy to spend days away from our home lives, for free. We can't have staff receiving compensation for work...

    Platinum One people - what’s your job/business?

It also means travelling for holidays is just like work which takes away some of your leisure enjoyment.

    Platinum One people - what’s your job/business?

Status benefits and lounges etc are there to try to make life more comfortable because frequent work travel sucks. It's not fun to be away from your family/friends/hobbies/home/lifestyle for 1-3 weeks per month.

OK cool, I'll take all our VFF cards to check in and cross fingers...

    Lounge Access Help Desk

No dice. Checked my SQ profile, under Partner Programs I have (and have always had) VFF listed. In fact I can't unlink/delete it? Still can't add VFF number to any of our bookings, under Manage Booking we only have the KF dropdown option. I wonder if it matters that it was a KF reward booking?

    Lounge Access Help Desk

Is it possible/worthwhile to add VFF to your SQ booking before flying? I'm flying out in 4 weeks, with the family, wife and I are both VFF Gold and want to ensure the lounge/checkin process is easy.... as well as to accrue VFF status from the flights... or do we just show the cards at check in?

Coffee queues in the Virgin Australia Lounge

And that alone disqualifies anyone from commenting :) An espresso shot takes around 27 sec to pull. Add grinding freshly, and steaming milk, and it is simply not possible to make an espresso-based coffee that is even vaguely good, in under 30 sec even when done in parallel.

Coffee queues in the Virgin Australia Lounge

Go on mate, why don't you just suggest that the hot water tap for tea now has a tin of nescafe next to it? That would make the queue shorter! Actually why not just get rid of all food and drinks altogether, then there would be no queue! The nitpicking from some people here...

Do you get tempted to indulge in the lounge, just because it's "free"?

If you rate a QF toasted cheese sandwich over a VFF Betty's Burger, something is wrong.

Return of Wifi on Virgin Australia

Ouch. I only travel for work in work time. My personal time is not for work activities (or if happens, I get paid for it!).
