I quite enjoy browsing in Dan's to see what they have, especially in their cellar release section I don't buy much to be honest (except beer!) but will occasionally get something with a bit of age on it!

Is it though? A steal at $100? I found it pretty over-ripe $100 puts you in some pretty esteemed company - Standish (on a good day, harder the most recent vintage); Duval eligo; even more recent 389s; Bekkers; some of the Yangarra stuff) - and that's before you get to the better value options...

To be honest, it's a bit of both I used to post a bit more with deals etc, but it does feel like they're few and far between these days. Pre-covid and at the start of covid it felt like there was a lot more - e.g. the BWS clearance stuff, back when my wine guy was a thing etc. Similarly, these...

The Nebbiolo from both Castagna and Georgia's paddock are excellent. The 2017/18 blend from the former in particular is outstanding

yep - shiraz of the year that year. A seriously good drop.. i've got ~18 in the cellar and haven't touched one since the release. Am going to wait my typical 5 year gap before diving in, and then it'll be ~one per year to see how it develops

Sign up to their mailing list.. they often release new vintages at a discount. The new Plexus was released about a month ago at a slight discount

Fair points IMO the V&A cab shiraz is better than the straight shiraz Both need a good ~3 hour decant if aged The 2012 entity is a superior wine to both ;) I have a magnum of the 2012 to open next year for my 40th, signed by John. Hopefully we'll actually go to the cellar door/artisans to drink...

Yep, this would be my approach.. a vertical tasting is all well and good, but you need a good set of mates to enjoy it with (and chip in on the price!) No point doing it by yourself! I've got 2015s in the cellar and have already been lucky enough to try a few. Very nice :)

Very interested in your thoughts on this.. have you had much other Napa wine? I certainly haven't, and this remarkably feels like good value from Penfolds!
