Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

What's everyone's view on wine from Costco?

Does it justify the membership fee?
From my experience it's seasonal, sometimes there are good wines are great prices but at other times DM or other places would have better prices. Also the prices could sometimes be cheaper in the store itself vs on its website so best to visit the store itself to pick.

In any case you can always cancel your membership before 12 months and get a full refund as their policy is pretty good...

I got some St Hugo there for a good price a few years back, but each time I've checked since then it hasn't been close to what you can get by opportunistically hunting for discounts using cashback and info from fora like this...

But the costco membership is good for other things, like big lots of cheese and huge tubs of choc mousse! Very good if you're throwing a party.

Yeh Dan's have the best price in town for that considering no one else sells or has ever sold it!

I thought I saw Kumeu Chardonnay in there, is that a Woolworth brand?

There are definitely some Exclusive brands in there like BF and Cat Amongst the Pigeons, Franklin Tate and the Ethereal One. But most of them are not.

It was good. Like the Haut-Brion and the Mouton I've picked up for $3-400 a bottle. I think they've learned their lesson not to stock that stuff given the massive discount to clear them out. Dunno what they taste like/if it's corked, it was all given away during my last trip to China to friends and associates...

22% cash back at BoozeBud via Shopback. $25 cap. 2pm to 6pm only.
Shame no Wynns Black Label at $25 anymore 😬

Guigal Cote Rotie 'Brune et Blonde' may be the best value I can find at $120, vs $140 at Dan's.
CB stacked with 10% off would take it down below $90 a bottle. I can't find much else which is discounted below Dan's.
20% cashback from shopback at BWS on Thursday, 4-8pm.
Is Petaluma the best value ATM at BWS? It's $42 here, with CB it's before $35 a bottle.

Just FYI shopback cashback takes off GST on the invoice value, whereas cashrewards assumes the invoice is pre-GST.

Basically the 22% on shopback for Boozebud is equivalent to the previous 20% promo on cashrewards
