VA’s fares aren’t all inclusive. The cheapest fares don’t include baggage. Which has actually been a reason for me to pick REX when I have needed baggage.

Prices are crazy at the moment. Just an anecdote obviously, but I was surprised Virgin flight I was on Thursday night Mel-Syd was only half full. Lot of empty rows.

But that’s the issue. Airlines trying have their cake and eat it too. Jetstar upsells people to 14kg of carry on. With 10kg in one bag. So the 7kg arbitrary limit and weight obviously isn’t a problem OH&S or locker wise if they openly sell it.

Rex is streets better right now. Just missing frequency on the key routes.

Ah ok, yep that was in reference to Sydney flights. But flights I was looking at was MEL-BNE/OOL with reference to the Lite/Choice fares. Not sure Mardi Gras in Sydney should be affecting them.

I actually don’t think this is great advice. Barley anyone would be trying to book 2 near identical itineraries on different carriers for the same time. Better advice is to just watch your itinerary closely as it gets closer to travel. You have to book with confidence and not worry about things...

Yep the yields must be good. And Virgin aren’t offering anything more than they offer on a 1hr MEL-SYD flight which is pretty cough.

Normally I'd agree with that. But I seriously don't think that is the case this time. When you have 13 flights in a day with no Lite or Choice fares 6 months out and the other airlines offering $150 economy seats it doesn't add up.

When you only want to spend $100 each way on a short hop with a family of 4...then yes is an issue.

Doesn't make sense at all. On flights I was looking at Qantas had fares for $175 where Virgin cheapest economy was like $450.

Not so amazing for my wallet…at $275 it is hard to say no!

OOL-MEL. 25/04. BNE-MEL. 25/04 - Business at $299. Flex at $439. No Lite. No Choice. Across all 13 flights on the day. Can do the same price. $299 in J before discount across multiple routes/dates.

There is definitely something weird going on though I reckon. There are some flights for similar period next year where there is no Lite or Choice fares available. Only craxy $$ Flex, and cheap business. I just can't imagine economy is booked that solid this far out. Maybe I am wrong.

Just booked MEL-BNE for ANZAC long weekend next year. $274 one way in J is a bargain.

I understand Velocity opens award bookings on Virgin metal at T-330 days. But what time (Melbourne time) do they actually release them for booking at T-330? I am booking for 4 people, in the school holidays for next September, so want to be right on it! Did a search but couldn't find it.

Anyone done VOA at Jakarta recently with Australian Passport? I have been googling and trying to get clarity on this as it appears it might not be possible? But majority of websites are Bali focussed, and the Indonesian consulate/embassy websites appear to have zero info or I am just cough at...
