Needed to be said….Mentour Pilot discusses the fall of QF

The saddest part of all is that if the public do (and I expect they already are) avoid QF, the only response from management will be more beatings. I can think of very little that has happened in more than a decade that wasn't in some way, an attack on the staff. Massive outsourcing, of...

    The FR24 appreciation thread

The quotation marks are probably appropriate. Most of the spokespeople struggle to understand that the company operates aircraft. There are depressurisations and pressurisation issues, and they're quite different animals. Basically though, you either need a hole for any air to escape, an issue...

    The FR24 appreciation thread

Just because they’re descending rapidly doesn’t necessarily equate to depressurisation. As a general rule, I’d look for a level off at 10,000’ for a depressurisation. And, I certainly don’t see much reason to be tootling along at 7,000’, down amongst the light aircraft brigade.

No. And the chances are that anyone who claims to be a Boeing driver, isn’t.

Needed to be said….Mentour Pilot discusses the fall of QF

On of the best of the aviation youtubers turns his attention to Alan Joyce, and his “legacy”.

    Ask The Pilot

Engineers don’t know anything about icing. If the book says an MEL exists, they’ll try to apply it. It’s up to the Captain to accept, or reject, an MEL. I once rejected an icing related one in Sydney, on a very hot summer day. It might have been 30º on the ground, but it was still going to be...

This guy does a very good explanation of the recent ATR spinning crash.

How long will SQ hold onto checked bags on a layover?

Make sure that you scroll down to see all of the flights on the search engine. There should be layovers over 24 hours.

QF is Australia's second most distrusted brand

It took a great deal of work, by a dedicated CEO, to achieve that.

    Ask The Pilot

Not everyone wants to be on TV. I was a little amused by her surprise that there was a hole in the aircraft. There pretty much has to be for there to be a bang and rapid depressurisation. The only question will be how big a hole.

    QF769 diverted to Adelaide

You phoned a call centre, not Qantas. Now, if you’d rung ops control, I’m sure they’d have had accurate information.

    Ask The Pilot

When you’re flying a big jet, space is always tight. Looking at the google images of the airport, there are no obstruction clearance lines (they don’t exist everywhere, but are helpful when they do - Tullamarine), and there actually doesn’t appear to be adequate room to pass behind any aircraft...

    Koala Airlines Discussion

Presumably it's really designed as a money transfer mechanism. Designed to take investors money and transfer it elsewhere.....

    SQ A350-900 MH vs B777-300ER J seats

Horizontal compared to what? If parallel to the floor, then they’d really be at an angle of about 3º, with your feet higher than your head. Not much, but noticeable.

Theft in lounges - how frequent?

Well, I guess the lounges are full of business people, and we know that they’re thieves at best.

    Planning a trip to Italy

Or at all. The boss is a terrible traveler at best, so I think RTW is off the plate. Probably the same for any flights with any level of backtracking.

    Planning a trip to Italy

Looking at booking a business class trip to Italy next year, and I'm surprised that the ME brigade are appreciably more expensive than I can get with SQ. Is this normal? The prices I'm seeing almost make my old employer viable.
