Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

But will Project Sunrise and its related aircraft acquisition allow the return of the Perth Tokyo flights? If not I would rather connect through CNS than SYD.... Though CX has had some reasonable Y cabin fares recently.... Which given the fare codes on those they may or may not assist retention...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Gcmap does agree BNE-LAX is 28 miles shorter than CNS-LAX But CNS is 113 miles closer to PER than BNE OTOH I know which I would prefer to visit on a holiday (not the political capital) One must keep up an image while wandering Fred

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Since the subject of PER-LAX cane up earlier, it would be a perfect route for the A321-XLR PER-CNS 2133 miles CNS-HNL 4634 miles HNL-LAX 2556 miles Why fly direct when you can connect (while wandering) Especially if the Queensland government will help with the landing fees in CNS Fred Yes I did...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

737-800 nominal range is about 3500 miles with NAN-HNL being about 3200..... So practically speaking -probably not. JQ A321-neo/LRs would have a range of 4400 plus. And the XLR variant over 5000 But then VA seems to be willing to push the limits, so you knows where a narrow body will see you...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Perhaps it is the lousy QF connections from PER to SE Asia (and SIN in particular)? If you are willing to fly JQ maybe the newly scheduled flights later in the year will "help" Though I doubt the QF/JQ combination will ever compete with SQ/Scoot/Air Asia for the mass market. Happy wandering? Fred

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Amazingly, MH flights as CR from Perth to Asian points seem to have re-appeared when I checked for the Sept/Oct 2024 time frame. And a small occurrence of J cabins seats. Given this is school holidays in WA I suspect they may not last long. Oh the trials of arranging for future wandering Fred

    Qantas ticket class visibility?

On the contrary, Qantas tickets can be purchased via the old fashioned route, known as a travel agent. Which makes the ticket class (ie fare code) much more visible. Not of particular interest to QFF members but of much greater importance to OW partner FF members. Not just Australians are...

    Qantas ticket class visibility?

Actually there can be quite a bit of "enhancement in earnings" within the Qantas major fare categories. You do not always need to spend big $$. Look at the real fare codes in the partner crediting for QF flights to OneWorld partners. Qantas has multiple prices with in each fare category. With...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

The only announcement I would like to see is that QF will follow the EU/UK 261 guidelines for QF and JQ flights which either depart from to arrive into Australian airports. Even if restricted to flights credited to a QFF account. I know..... Way too much wandering Fred
