The lack of understanding of a promotion that has been round now for 6 months never fails to astound me. They are now saying they will go back and take the ppoints given earlier off me. If they do that they can expect a reaction.

It has been answered above. The use of a voucher overcomes the requirement for a booking and service fee. Also a majority payment by voucher with remainder by credit card (up to $50 I think) results in no booking fee.

As you said you used a Platinum bonus upgrade not a points reward upgrade. I assume there is a big difference.

You could have booked Newcastle Melbourne using 2FOR1. Choose the FlexiFare, then upgrade to business (19600 points). Get 160 SC if done before June 30, for that using 2 of your sectors from 2FOR1. Quickest and cheapest way I believe currently of getting up to Gold. I have 2 flights uin June one...

No but you can buy visa/mastercard with amex in woolworths. Round about way of doing this ; wonder if it is worth the hassle

The only benefit would be in getting points to my velocity account. Given her age she is highly unlikely to ever get enough to transfer so that is probably a wasted idea. Best make it as cost effective as possible. Thanks guys
