QF 44 on thurs cancelled due to aircraft damage

Good site. It confirms the same info and shows VH-EBK as the only aircraft currently in maintenance.

QF 44 on thurs cancelled due to aircraft damage

There has been an A330 (VH-EBF ) with L1 door closure issues. I flew it as QF566 PER-SYD on 23/12/2019. The door closed but a light was showing it as still open. They called an engineer who reopened and reclosed the door, and the light went off. I was sitting in 2E so I had a good view of the...

    'Enhanced' QF status credit calculator

The old calculator shows some routes but its database seems to be prior to the LAN/TAM merger. So it shows flights SDU-CGH and flights from GIG-GRU but no flights from SDU-GRU. 1580273033 It needs a Gmail address as distinct from any email address?

    'Enhanced' QF status credit calculator

I will have to ask you to share instructions for your spreadsheet so I can calculate the SCs and points I should receive when they process my missing points request. I don't trust them to get it right.

Recent disappointing SYD-SIN J catering experience

Qantas don't even do full duplicate catering in First. As I discovered SYD-DXB.

    'Enhanced' QF status credit calculator

According to the new calculator both SDU (Rio) and GRU (Sao Paulo) are valid departure points but if you select them there are no valid destinations. Perhaps they have deleted all the LATAM routes a bit early.

LATAM SCL Lounge access with QF28

Don't get too excited about the LATAM lounge in SCL - it looks nice but there is no decent food. Only sandwiches.

RTW or 2 one way tickets

Two one way tickets would usually be more expensive, although you can get surprises. Try multi city bookings. I searched using multi-city assuming SYD as a departure point and NYC as your US port leaving 10 August and returning 15 September. WIth CX the cost would be $1421 AUD in Y or $7208 in...

Do Thai Airways have waist size restrictions for Business Class seats on their B787 Dreamliner?

There is an airbag in the seat belt in the business class seat on VA's A332 - "the business" product. But I have not heard of them imposing any such restriction.

And they are rarely if ever the same items!

Recent disappointing SYD-SIN J catering experience

That should not be the case. Sounds like someone was looking after themselves. Definitely worth a complaint. You did pay for the ticket in full. You just paid in points instead of dollars. Award flights are not some favour or gift from the airline.

Review: Sheraton Deva Spa & Golf Resort New Caledonia

I am a very frequent traveller to New Caledonia and I have to confirm that the service there is mostly awful. They just don't have a service culture. And I speak French fluently so there is no language barrier in my case. Personally I would not stay at Deva, although my local friends do go there...

    Project Sunrise: A350 or 777X?

I'm not a pilot but my understanding is that the need for MCAS arose principally because Boeing was trying to avoid the need to retrain pilots to fly the 737MAX. Moving the engines made the MAX behave differently to earlier 737s. So they had to do something to make it behave as pilots would...

Do they ever cancel flights that are really underbooked?

You can't rely on either the VA seatmap or the numbers or the seatmap on ExpertFlyer to gauge loads. The seatmaps only show allocated seats. Many PAX don't select their own seat and may not be allocated a seat prior to check in. Or some other milestone which triggers an automatic allocation...

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Respiratory illness - Effect on Travel

What is really worrying is that this is much more contagious than SARS or MERS. Apparently 8 times more contagious than SARS.

    Santiago and Buenos Aires

Update - while I was not asked for the yellow fever vaccination certificate on entry to Brazil or on entry to Argentina after leaving Brazil, I was asked for it on my return to Sydney from Santiago. I was processed quickly because I was able to produce it. If I had not had the certificate I...

New Ultimate Awards card (uncapped till May 2020)

That's interesting. I had to do the switch by phone because my current Platinum Awards card is a Visa card not a Mastercard. Something I had deliberately retained because Visa is (or was) more useful in France (at places like payage on the motorways). However I have since acquired another Visa...
