coughtail evening for Adelaide 1 May 2013

Watch out for the Qantas photographer - he just backed into me spilling my wine all over me. So I'm the guy in the black suit smelling like a wino.

    Qantas disinterest

Loyalty programs are all about your loyalty to the provider, not their loyalty to you. To repeat - QFF is not about Qantas' being loyal to you, it's about you being loyal to Qantas and ways to drive that. While it's worth them knowing why you left, and they should and do seek feedback on...

coughtail evening for Adelaide 1 May 2013

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that if they're launching a travel money card, the invites are sent to FF's who've done a lot of international travel lately, or have some booked? I'd qualify for both, although I eagerly await seeing Kina as a currency on their card.

    FF login issue?

Still no go. Now I get a Server Error. Now back.

coughtail evening for Adelaide 1 May 2013

I got an invite, WP with ample points and flights. No +1. Expecting to go (unless I happen to be traveling that week, which is highly possible).

    FF login issue?

Yes, widespread, just got locked out, called the line and they're experiencing it as well.

    Perth QC (QP) a joke

This was covered beforehand in another thread.

    Perth QC (QP) a joke

The point is that you don't get to sit. I don't mind who is in there - if you fly all the time for work you deserve to be given some appreciation by the airline. The expectations of behaviour apply equally to all patrons. What I do mind is not getting a seat, not getting a meal, not getting to...

    New QF A380 reconfiguration!!!

I had flights SYD-LAX last week and LAX-MEL this week in the new config. The upstairs exit row 35 were the best seats in an A380 Y that I've sat in. 35K a new favourite due to the space down the side of the seat for bags (not during takeoff/landing). I still maintain however that exit row seats...

"Olympics safety demonstration video removal" bingo

Saw the cricket one tonight - worst safety video yet. The preamble goes on and on before they get to the point and it's just cringe-worthy to watch. I'm going to stop politely paying attention now. Qantas - this is embarrassing. What's next - retired politicians? (Actually I'd probably watch...

Has Qantas got its "mojo" back?

I'd say "no, but they appear to be trying". I fly almost every week, and in the past 6 months have seen a noted improvement. The FA's now make an effort to visit and greet WP's on domestic flights, the food is improving, they try to smile now. Kids meals are better and the IFE is slowly getting...

    Advance seat selection on QF001

Maybe they haven't allocated an aircraft to the flight and therefore don't have a seat map yet? (guessing)

    Qantas FF Status Match

Agreed - they're handy when volcanic ash or "industrial action" mess up your travel plans when you're running close to the wire.

    Advance seat selection on QF001

Would be my guess as well - I have a QF1 in September and I could select the seats a day or two after booking.

Platinum Shadow - International? Does it work?

I have entirely the opposite. Qantas have a flag that says "this guy is broad shouldered - stack the seats next to him with equally broad shouldered and have a laugh". At least that's how it feels sometimes. WP and rarely an empty seat next to me, but I do tend to fly on full flights.

    Perth Qantas lounge

Can't comment on what your colleague observed but there is usually one or two staff at the bar, one at the front counter (rarely two), one at the service counter (rarely two), one hiding in the room behind the food counter and one trolley.

    Perth Qantas lounge

I'm based in ADL so always 737's to PER, but occasionally I fly coast to coast and usually get 767's. Exit row is usually available if you're reserving a fortnight in advance so a 737 isn't a bad pick. The downside is that the 737's usually don't get aerobridges, and the stairs don't line up so...

    Perth Qantas lounge

I fly in/out of Perth roughly fortnightly. The lounge is a joke, yes, but it's roughly divided into the bar end where you must be at least 20% tattooed to enter, and the business end past the service counter (where there's no food/drinks other than the coffee machine). The food is fairly...

I think I may have been brainwashed... I'm flirting with the enemy now!

I am a Discount-Economy Platinum (and damn near a Discount-Economy P1 last status year which I would strongly recommend against attempting), flying a few times a month domestically and 4-6 international per year. Almost always with Qantas. I started flying for business with Qantas in 1996 and...
