All upgrades whether complimentary or points to business show up as U. There is nothing new in this. The SC/points earn estimate on the website cannot differentiate between an outright U award or an upgrade from a paid fare. The back end IT can and does differentiate them.

You will earn the SC for the original flex fare. Should not be any need to chase this up.

I don’t think QR has a frequent flyer lounge at CDG just the Premium lounge which is for J/F pax only. No lounge access at Madrid unless you have OW status or J/F pax.

I have an Amex Charge Card with Priority Pass has saved me in various ports throughout the world. Based on my visit to the Strata lounge at AKL I wouldn’t bother going back to QF until they have completed the refurbs. There is no comparison between the two.

Go to the QF F lounge. It’s far better than the NZ lounge. Ignore any directives from check in staff re lounges. I have no idea who Dennis Bunnik is but if he wants to grow his YouTube audience he should know the One World lounge access rules.

Officially you are one adult guest over the limit but in practice this may well be ok as long as not school holidays etc.
