    Frequent flying as a consultant

Does travel Yeah, it does. This year 37 days away, before it all ground to a halt, and my rules for next year will change (again) as a result of WFH since late Feb. For a few years, I was average 150-160 nights away from home and given that there are only 184 mid-week nights a year...

1,000 free Qmiles for downloading Qatar Airways App

Read the T&Cs: Members who have logged into the Qatar Airways mobile app in the last 6 months will not be eligible for the bonus Qmiles

Positive Story - Prompt Refund Finnair and QFlyer

Really good to know. I booked a trip to Iceland (SIA, SAS between CPH and KEF) with stopovers in Copenhagen and Singapore on the way home. Tried a couple of well known brands in AU that promise to price match as well as a bunch of online TAs and the airlines direct, but the best the well known...

Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

Just got Platinum. I had to resend documents (I'd sent two monthly email statements, and advice of renewal of platinum to April 2021, was requested to send "statement" that I see when I log in to Velocity and membership showing expiry, so sent expiry date from my digital card). Email...

Qantas Club access for Silver FF

No, I paid around $2400 back in 95 for lifetime QC membership. Or, more to the point, my company did. Was an FBT exempt benefit at the time. I don't think you could ever buy a certain FF level of membership. $500 is roughly what a single year of QF club would cost. No, it turned up...

Qantas Club access for Silver FF

Here's what shows up when I sign in - interesting, they've put an end date on my QF lifetime membership so it's actually only 53 years since purchase. I might have to complain. I'll still be a sprightly 81 year old then :) 1589941461 I do (but I'm not the OP :))

Qantas Club access for Silver FF

And I don't carry either card, of course :) I think, from memory, that boarding passes will show QF CLUB LTS or similar - enough that your boarding pass will scan you into a lounge. I haven't had much call for QF since work switched to VA a few years back, but looking forward to having QF club...

Qantas Club access for Silver FF

I'm also a lifetime QF member (also purchased in 95) (and also LTS). Same QF number, two cards.

    Secrets of travelling light

Yes (but very little, and very small), and I packed it in my backpack and hung things like headphones, water bottle, jacket on the outside on the return journey.

Lounge access (for Shower) - QF MEL-LAX (arr TBIT), UA LAX-IAH (dep T7)

Yes, I have priority pass, but, as far as I can see, the KAL / Skyteam lounge doesn't open until 9am. I've only got three hours - if I wait 90 minutes for *A or KAL to open, I'm then going to be rushing to make my flight. I think I'll just remain grubby (and plan better next time - AA / US...

Lounge access (for Shower) - QF MEL-LAX (arr TBIT), UA LAX-IAH (dep T7)

Thanks for your reply. Yep, I suspected that might be the case. I wonder if I can get into *A in TBIT. No, I can't. Doesn't open in time. At least the return trip will be OK.

    Secrets of travelling light

Did 16 nights (plus two over night flights) with HLO - and no washing. 18x underwear, 18x shirts, jeans, casual trousers, shorts, bathers, bike shorts, exercise top, walking boots, runners, thongs, 500g ground coffee, aero-press, chargers, tablet. Wore walking boots (heavy & bulky), one warm...

Lounge access (for Shower) - QF MEL-LAX (arr TBIT), UA LAX-IAH (dep T7)

I am QF WP and *A Gold (both UA Premier Platinum, and Turkish elite Gold). I am flying through LAX to IAH. Last time I did this, I was flying UA from MEL to LAX (so didn't have to worry about eligibility to get into the UA lounge) I walked straight over to T7, only to discover that there are...

Velocity or Star Alliance (if so, which airline) for QF WP?

Benefits I can use ;) Fair question. I use points on QF for upgrades, classic rewards flights (primarily long haul every couple of years for the family), and enjoy the benefits of WP for my business travel. I don't fly Virgin domestically, so probably won't get value from status benefits or...

Velocity or Star Alliance (if so, which airline) for QF WP?

I'm currently QF WP, will easily retain platinum each year (took just on four months this year), but unlikely to reach P1 (fell about 200 points short last year). A change in travel policy probably sees my AUS - US trips in PE on QF, or J on alternative carriers such as Air NZ, United, etc. I...

    The WP shadow

Well 4F was occupied, 4B got filled late with SG, 4E, 5BE, 6BE and 7BE were all empty. Rest of the flight was full.

    The WP shadow

It's already T-24, and 4F is still blocked for me (WP). I don't know anyone else on the flight to see what they can see, but EF with a QF WP number (mine) shows it as OPEN, but OLCI shows it as blocked.

    The WP shadow

Interesting. QF632 MEL BNE 19 Nov I'm WP, and this is what I see going to check in... 4DEF Full or Blocked. EF shows So 4F is showing as free through EF, but I can't check in to it as WP. EF with Bronze (I don't have ready access to a Gold FF number) shows this I wonder what it...

Where to share my loyalty... (won't make P1, but will keep wp - easily)

Thanks for the suggestions. I wish I'd been thinking ahead and grabbed the opportunity for status matches earlier, but I might see how I go with TK and asking VA and EK. I must admit I do like the QF product, but it seems a waste to earn SCs that don't get me anything more than WP.

Where to share my loyalty... (won't make P1, but will keep wp - easily)

I'm WP and have been for a couple of years, and will be for a couple more, without too much effort. I will miss out on P1 by 235 QF SCs (unless I do a quick MEL-SYD-MEL and bring forward my next MEL-LAX to Oct 31st - ain't gonna happen). The chances of me making P1 next year are lower than...
